I've seen a lot of threads where people are asking how to break in a new cam.  Well I got a my new cam, lifters, springs and headers in this week (wanted to kiss the UPS guy, not really), and the cam and lifter instructions say to remove the inner spring if you're running dual springs during the break in process.  This would cause a lot more work to switch them out twice but I want to do what's best for the engine.

I haven't seen anyone mention this before so I wanted to see what you guys think.

Heres a pic of the springs I'm using.

That doesn't look like a dual spring setup to me.  I could be wrong, but I think those are just single springs with retainers.  If so, then you have no problem.  Bob

Those are not actual "dual" Springs,
Those are Single Springs with a Flat Wounde "Damper" internal.
No need to remove the Flat "Damper"

Check your installed Spring Pressure when Installing, make sure you add a Zinc Additive to the Oil for Break-in,
Follow the rpm Break-in procedure and you should be fine.

Bob out.

Good question!  I'd heard about possibly having to remove inner springs for break-in, but then was told that break-in should be as the motor will normally run.  But I have the same springs as your pic, so I don't have to worry about it now!   :2thumbs:

That's the best news I could've heard!  Saves me a lot of time in the near future.

Thanks fellas
