I noticed when I have my new Edelbrock Performer intake on my 318, this hole is not covered. When you put the gasket in place, the hole is not covered either. What is this hole? It's the half oval shaped one. It's in the middle of the head....

Its the heat crossover to warm up the intake in winter months. With the crappy gas we have now adays plus the fact you really dont need it and it usually causes issues in the summer...just block it like most do.

BTW you might want to change the title, i got a great laugh but its only a matter of time before krylon or bull sees this and this thread goes downhill fast.

the rectangle shape in the center is for the heat riser the cresent shape you pointed out is just part of the casting it goes no where and doesn't need covered by the gasket.

You can buy valley pans that have that hole blocked off, or use thin s.s. shim gasket material.
