Hello!! Every year my father and I hit the nationals (that's where big red came from years ago). Our hotel is usually clear on the other side of Columbus. This year, we kinda wanted to stay closer to the action. Can anyone give any suggestions on where to stay? Hebron? (what road/hotel?) Brice road (which hotel?) cheap is the name of the game. We may? Hate being in the center of it all after Saturday night is over but, you only live once, we thought alittle rowdy might be the way to go this year. Thank you in advance.
Jeffery.

May have issues finding something closer as most of the hotels are already booked up.   Good luck!

Yup, I'm afraid we might get stuck across town... again.  I'm still hopeful though! Anybody got any other suggestions of maybe where to TRY and get a room closer to the action?

Hi Jessie! Hows you? Hope your family is well! I've been slowly, VERY SLOWLY trying to get back on my feet after being laid off for a year. Last year was very trying both physically AND mentally, (A person begins to wonder; What's wrong with me? , Why won't anyone hire me?) It wears on a guy. I've been working for a VERY large valve and fitting company in Solon. It's 3rd shift, (Did I tell ya that going in on Sunday night suuuuuxxxx?) Since Oct last year. Its a long drive and I really dislike 3rd, but I'm fortunate and happy. Nice to hear from you!! Know of any place to stay in Columbus?

It might be tough to get much of anything close to the Nats. You can trying calling around and hope for a cancellation.
I tried to get a hotel/motel in or close to Hebron in Nov. of last year. They were all booked up. I guess there is some kind of basket convention the same weekend as The Nats. I was able to get a room at La Quinta on Brice Road (where we stayed last year). We had first dibs since we were there last year. We had to call in Jan. ( I think) to reserve our rooms. I would have rathered stay in Hebron where the action is. I guess I was too slow.
Good luck with your search!

I would not think you would have much of a problem.  Nats is not what it used to be. I did not attend last years Nats, but the ten years in a row I went, I noticed attendance is not near what it used to be.  A couple of my buddies went down last year on Thursday and got a room at I believe A Holiday Inn Express off of 70 at the Pickering exit. They walked right in with plenty of rooms.

Rippling Stream Campground!

It's not too far from the track and gives you a nice country-feeling cruise to get to National Trail Raceway. Last time I was there it was $20 a night, so it also helps save extra money for Charger parts.

Thanks guys for all your help!  I'm gonna make some phone calls in earnest this weekend. Does anyone else have any suggestions?
Hey Jessie, Don't forget about Garrettsville's Summerfest June 25th, 26th, and 27th! Car show is the 26th at the plaza (Dairy Queen) I probably won't be able to make carshow as I'll have the Farmall H in the tractor parade, (just like last year!!) Enjoy!!

Hello all! I just spent some time on line and was able to get a room at Red Roof Inn 2449 Brice Rd. 1(614)864-3683 Katie on  the phone was very helpful. She said they had a few rooms left. I did try rooms in Hebron, three hotels in town, all sold out. Thank you all for your help and suggestions. Maybe we'll see ya down there!!  :ricky:
ENJOY!!

Between the oh so helpful police traffic control on Brice and the deteriorating 'hood around the motels there, it's little wonder they have rooms left.  The all full report from Hebron is telling you the rest of the story.

I think I went something like 12 years in a row, every one of 'em they had at Indy,

and several of 'em at Columbus.

Last time I was there (2006) I told the Ol' Lady as we pulled out of the hotel

parking lot that Sunday:

"Take a good look around, 'cause we ain't comin' back"

You going this year Jeff?  I am not sure on my end, to be honest I do not miss it.  The track is such a dump. But I do not see it moving back to Indy anytime soon.
