Hey guys!

My engine isn't #'s matching and I'm wondering if I'm reading my engine code numbers correctly?

     440
E   C              ("C" is stamped upside down)

5  7      H P 2

Build date: 5/7/69
Type: 440 magnum

Not sure what the upside down "C" is??

The cast date is 11/5/68 with a 440 cast code.

Thanks

A383Wing

the correct letter code for a 68 block would be a "D".....maybe part of the "D" is missing and it looks like an upside down "C"??

E 440 - 69

Seen lots with the "C" on them....Sometimes an "A" The Groovers book states the "C" is special crankshaft and pistons.

Could be an A12 motor - what's the VIN?

Here's a pic.

The VIN you're asking about looks to be 9C267026.

Are you sure about the 2nd digit on the VIN?

It is definitely a May 7, 1969 Engine Assembly Date

Thanks

Here's a pic of the VIN.

Wow - Jefferson, MI plant.....What did they build that would use a HP motor? TNT C-Bodies maybe? Cop cars? I know the 70 300 Hurst's were built there.

Yes. Chrysler TNT cars.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.
