This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I thought they quit building the Mercury after the 1949-1951 models.  :shruggy:

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

The only thing that should be retained from Mercury is the girl who pitches them in the commercials. I'd be happy to put her on my list.

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

Although, the old Cougars were cool as well as the Montego's.

These limited production Marauders were not a bad looking car.

+1 for me please!

The big 3's market share in the USA has been steadily declining since the first 1973 gas crisis.  The number of American brands logically needs to reduce to match it.

The process just seems to be happening a lot lately because it's long overdue.

Plymouth, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Mercury.   :'(  ( I think it's unfortunate!
I've never owned a Mercury but I wouldn't mind having a 427 powered Comet Cyclone. :yesnod:

In the 80's, I had a 2 door 1974 Mercury Comet with a straight 6cyl and a 3spd on the tree, in grabber blue.

Remove the hood scoop and side stripe, it looks like mine did.

All of these brands would still be around if they were really unique and distinct. All these brands were redundant starting in the 70's with most divisions using the same bodies and platforms, but changing up the interior or the exterior trim. Example: Crown Vic-Mercury Grand Marquis, Dodge caravan - Plymouth grand voyager

Yes it's obvious the the Big three dropped the ball years ago, but I still see it as being unfortunate. I remember when all of these cars had their own styling and uniqueness. My, how things have changed!

AAHHH my old 1979 Merc. Zephyr......put 200K on it and still got 400.00 bucks for it. (then they got 4 more years out of it!) See if you can find an old ad for the 73 Cougar, my bro dated her for a year....what a BABE!

Yep, another victim of badge engineering.  The sad part is that the Japanese copied the American model and branched off their core brands within recent history (Lexus, Infiniti, Acura and such).  Kind of around the same time period the Americans began to slowly kill their additional brands.  (taking DeSoto and Imperial out of the discussion of course)
