I am in the process of restoring my assemblies and can't find any really good pics or info on what would be correct. As I disassembled the part I noticed the back of the fastening plate appeared to have possibly been cadmium type plated. The housing looked like it was left natural, although it was painted aluminum at some time. The light socket was painted black on the outside tip where the wire was exposed and the rest was polished zinc/tin (shiny). I do believe they where fastened with studs on the housing and star type lock washer nuts at some time. There are distinctive lock washer marks in the fastening plate from those and I did notice the repops have those on them.

Anyone ever restored them to factory correct or maybe seen an NOS set that knows exactly?

My build sheet has a 7 in box number 517 so I know these are the originals, but, they have been altered over the years I want them back to stock. Thanks in advance because I have already had tremendous help form your posts and members of this site!

Sweet! Keep them coming if you got them. I may have the studs as I think they are the same as the studs that are on the taillight housings. Now I just have to find the correct star washers/nuts. The housing looks natural finish, I think I'm going to go ahead and cadmium finish the fastening plate. I have already restored the plastic sleeve and wiring and spring inside the light housing. That picture solidifies the stud/starlock nut theory for me.
