hey all,
I know its been awhile been real busy planning the wedding (which is June 19), finishing college, and working. Anyways I got a question Grandma has an 8 track player. I just bought a head cleaning tape on ebay for it. I said I need to put new pads on it. How the Bleep do I do that?? Did I screw myself?? Where do these pads go? I'm lost.

Thanks
Keith

Any pics or a link? The cleaner cartrage is supposed to have a pad on it.

the pads if i remember right there are foam  they go under  tape in the middle of the cassette  they are as wide as the tape and run from the roller  to the other end of the head they are foam with a plastic layer that acts as a slide for the cleaning tape  all i used to do to clean the head was put rubbing alcohol on a qtips and rub it on the head and that little tab  until it comes out clean

I still have my old cassette deck from the 1970's that works fine & I recall that plain old, isopropyl rubbing alcohol was the wrong thing to use for cleaning any kind of tape deck, it will leave a residue due to whatever compounds are in it. You want to use  the denatured isopropyl alcohol for electronics.

Run some Zep and Hendrix through it - It will clean up just fine!
