Headlight bucket wire harness grommet

Anybody know where to get one or a pair of the wire grommets which protect the headlight wiring as it goes into the headlight buckets?

I have one original, but the other is MIA.  This has been on my list to find for a while, but have had no luck finding any modern manufacturer who sells anything this size or even close.  If the answer is "find an original or do without", at least I'll know.  The originals were one piece grommets that were crudely split with a pair of side cutters or something similar, so the split doesn't matter.  Chrysler's part number was 144229 - not that having that information has been any help...

Thanks!

I guess depending on your perspective, the letter inside the triangle is either a "W" or a "M".

Thanks Bill, it has been a while since I did the majority of my searching, but that name seems familiar.  In any event, they don't have an exact match to the dimensions.  They get close on some, but there's always something that's off.  For the record, the dimensions these had are:

(A) ID of hole --  21/32", maybe 11/16"
(B) OD of grommet --  1-5/32"
(C) Overall thickness --  3/4"
(D) Panel thickness --  1/16"
(E) Panel hole --  not 100% sure, but estimate it to be between 13/16" and 7/8"

Is this thing  wingcar only ?
I don't remember ever seeing such a grommet on anything else. So chances are Mopar pulled something in to work in a pinch for short runs

plastic washer hose hood strap on Challenger T/A's is along the same lines

Wondering if the superbird fleet engineering manual  list the vendor.

It only shows the same 144229 part number, and doesn't have a separate page for that particular part.  With Superbirds, the grommet was supplied as part of the nosecone assembly so they didn't do as much of a breakdown.  The predecessor Daytona fleet engineering manual does not contain a separate sheet for that 144229 number either, and none of the copies I have contain any handwritten notes or clues for source/manufacturer help.

Did 'Birds use the same grommet from the same M/W manufacturer?  Just because it's the same part number doesn't mean Chrysler (or even Creative Industries) didn't switch vendors in the few month timeperiod that separated Daytona conversions and Superbird nosecone production.

I don't know if there are other applications for this grommet, my limited supply of parts books don't show anything else, but as you already know, their indexes are anything but exhaustive.  Could be truck, could be industrial/marine, who knows.   :brickwall:  It did not, however, have a 3412xxx part number, so it was a part that Chrysler already had in their system - so you'd think that other stuff used it somewhere... finding out what that application is and for what periods it was used is a whole 'nother story.

Gene with the level of absurdity that you're taking this car to, just tell people that it only came with one grommet from Creative.   ;)
