Seems like car fanatics the world over spend their time searching for a bargain car, only to find the owner won't sell cos one day "he's gonna do it up"

Here's a couple of pics of a sought after Pacer that was sitting under a tree not far from me for many years.

Of course it aint for sale.. it'll just sit there until it's no longer saveable.

Gotta love a '69

Thats a shame, VG Hardtop Pacers are thin on the ground as well , yup a common enough theme of " nup, no sale , gonna do it up" and they just let it return to mother earth. .. mate of mine has a real cool Bondi bleach one , got a 6pk too  :coolgleamA:

This thread reminds me, I should go look at the 1969 R/T Charger I said I'd go check on the other week... Maybe I have no more time than the guy who has let that car sit for the past 15 years  :popcrn:

mauve66

looks like a US type dart/valiant but looks like down there it had valiant badging and you called it a Pacer also, so weird when they mix things around from country to country

i had a 89 Swift Gti from the states but when i got to germany and they ordered parts they had to list it as a 90/91 to get the correct items over there................ crazy

Chased this relic for many years until the owner finally allowed me to shovel it up out of his lawn and drag it home..... vcode, 4spd, 4:10 car to boot..... unfortunately it didnt take me long to realise it was way to far gone for my abilities so now it resides in Canada with someone who can afford to take on the task.. I would call the owner every spring and every fall for about 15 years , sometimes he would yell at me and slam the phone down sometimes he would talk my ear off, well one fall about 4 years ago I called and he angrilly got on the phone and said I will sell you the car because I am sick of you bothering me about the damn thing....... Sometimes Persistance pays off fellows!!

You almost never see old cars just sitting around up here in the northeast.
If the weather hasnt claimed them, the vultures have.

I envy you guys down south and out west.

this is the truth...it just really doesn't happen when you live in NH... :rotz:

On the lookout for my next project after I finish the 68, you never know what you will find out there so I always look.

Checked on that 3rd gen that is within a mile from me.  Still parked at the back of the property..  Was a 5th wheel in front, so I couldn't really see it, but they are building new houses behind the house now, so I got a peak from the back.  Just sitting...   :icon_smile_dissapprove: :eek2:

Got the title to the 67 today. She's a parts car...giving her life so the 66 can live on. Checked out a 72 in Gainesville area. Car was solid on the bottom, bottom panels a little rust and the trunk and deck lid were rusty. Crazy interior. Was on Craigslist and had the kids go take pics.

Yep, I've checked alot on parked Chargers (and other cars) since before I was old enough to drive back in the late 70's..
It ultimately payed off when I checked on an abandoned 68 R/T under a car cover at a vacant house in southwest Fresno about
6 years ago...I got in touch with the guy and drove it home for under $3500... :coolgleamA:

Wait till u go by and it's gone.  :'(

Bringing back a thread from last year, but the 70 Charger RT is gone...   :'(

I will miss that car.  Never was able to contact the owner, I suppose it's a moot point now.

this one is finally gone... the old beat up Victorian looks by the evidence to be sold to a new owner..  :shruggy:

Hey, I remember that guy!

Yup.. that Charger was a touchstone on my San Francisco Car Guy Mr. Toads' Wild Ride Tour...

I've been on the other end of that question. Mine was sitting around until I retired, then I started working on it. Now I'm re-employed and struggling to get it complete.

Been about another year, I was in the neighborhood of 'Sleeping Beauty,' figured I drive by just for the heck of it....  She's back!

Unfortunately I don't drive for work anymore, so I can't check on her like I used to.  One of these days I need to get some balls and go knock on the door.  Poor car is getting quite weathered.

Who remembers the Dark green 70 R/T Charger R code hemi 4spd.car W/ tan interior and slots that sat rotting in Harrington De.1 of 42 cars built ( orig motor gone, but had a 440 in it )The car sat for many years in this old colored mans front yard, he would not sell for years, finally sells the car to someone i know for $900, :eek2: it changed hands a few times, then i could have bought it in 95-96 for $6,000 , to much at the time considering that is what i paid for a near perfect 70 RR. years later i saw the car in Hemmings for $10,000 from a know Mopar dealer in De. the car was sold and went to New York. This is the car with the bullet holes in the back from being involved in a chase in Dover DE., the cop that was involved is friends of our family who told us the story.

Ghoste

Wasn't there a red 70 Charger with a bullet hole in the rear glass too?  Or maybe I'm mixing stories and Chargers.  I definitely remember a 70 bullet hole tale though, may have even been a magazine feature?

GOTWING

I only know of this car, as i used to visit with the old man and talk to him, he did have several other chargers all over his property at the time, they are all gone now.

Found a green '70 R/T two days ago tucked in an apartment parking stall not 30 feet from a well travelled street. Can barely see grille driving by, just lucky to have seen it this time...

Well I am shocked!  On Tuesday I stopped to see Tim a friend of mine that has a 1969 Charger 500 that he parked in a barn in 1983 and it has sat there ever since.  He said the original owner contacted him a couple of weeks ago and he wants it back AND TIM SAYS HE WILL SELL IT!  He said he planned on restoring it but here it is almost 30 years later and he hasn't touched it.
