I began the tail light resto this weekend and noticed there is some kind of black adhesive the white foam gaskets are stuck to. Is this factory? If so, is this a weather proofing attempt by Ma Mopar because the foam gaskets wouldn't keep the water out? If this is factory glue what is it?

The black adhesive is called buetel tape...Year one sells rolls of it. It is the same stuff they use to seal rear window as well..

Hey Norm,

Thanks for that bit of info! I didn't think is was a "tape" material because it clearly looks factory "brushed" on my taillight casing. I'll check with the local autobody supply joint here in town and see if they have something like what you describe. I appreciate the YO reference as well but, unless I'm desparate for a part, I won't buy from YO. Their pricing is customer rape as are their shipping costs IMHO. Take care buddy and thanks again!
