I was invited up to their Concours d'Elegance show that they hosted up in Vermont.  It was an honor to be selected and aside from the spectacular view and meeting new people, the show was in a nice setting and the actual day of the show the judging left a lot to be desired in my opinion.  Its pretty bad when everyone else in my class was blown away by who the actual winner was probably because his car had a hemi in it vs. the 383 in mine yet everyone else thought my car was more correct and more detailed then the hemi car.  Again, just an observation.  I attended the Musclepalooza last year in Englishtown / Raceway park and parked next to Johntpr with is green daytona. I saw many people from Hemmings walk past both of our cars yet no one officially or remotely walked around or even looked inside or cars or engine compartments.  Then they call the awards and it was like they knew who won before they even showed up.  As you can imagine, kinda left a bad taste in my mouth for Hemmings.  Oh, that and the fact they they kept blowing smoke up my ass about wanting to do a photo shoot with my car for like 3 or 4 mos of communication only to never hear from them again.

Brian --- That's interesting... I posted this video on my FB page, and I had a story come to my email that was JUST LIKE YOURS!!! Lots of smoke blowing and then he was practically invisible when he attended the show... Almost makes you wonder if they are that desperate to get people there just to make their "winners" (who are probably pre-determined) look better... Can't have a winner without "competition" now can you....

What kind of a show turns cars away?  :shruggy: i'd be pissed to if I drove to a show just to be turned away. that cop car looks sweet to me.

JB,

Not trying to put down anyones car but on the Sat cruise in show that Hemmings put on before the actual concours show on Sun, one of the editors came up to me since my charger was a 69 also and asked me if I knew what the VIN letter for a Hemi would be.  I told him what it was and then asked him why.... his response was that there was a 69 hemi 4 spd charger there also but had the VIN tag mangled on the left side like someone tampered with it.  After looking at this suspicious car, the fender tag was missing, had a manual disc brake conversion, scatter shield bell housing, 3" exhaust, body parts misalligned, etc.  Yup, you guessed it, guess who took a first at the Concours yet I took the first place on Sat which beat him out.  Politics I tell ya!

Ragging on a stupid furrin box is one thing...   and this site is known as new Charger unfriendly if ever there was one but don't just post random pics and call BS.    The new Charger will walk on a lot of classic muscle even with the extra doors.   Although I'm not the biggest fan of AMC's,    I wouldn't go around talking poop to Buick Turbo owners nor picking on 20th anniversary 89 Turbo Trans Ams.    You'll get your butt handed to you in a hurry.

Yes what happened to Mark's cop car sucks.   It's the nicest example of a cop car I've ever seen and Mark is a helluva nice guy... It just shouldn't happen.

I've been to a few musclepalooza's and I figured out in a hurry they're not interested in modified cars (beyond a set of wheels / tires) and that's fine.    It turns it into a spectator event for me.   Less hassle.    But as I said before I didn't bother this weekend.

I may be speaking out of turn, but I don't think he's ragging on the cars themselves, I know im not.... I love TTA's and turbo buicks. I think th epoint is that are also not "Muscle cars" by the text book definition.

Mid size car with a full size car engine... I know this is argued alot.... and persoanlly i would kill for a TTA or GN, but the fact remains of why they ar ethere and the Polara was turned away.

C'mon, don't you know that those S10 pick ups are nothing but power machines!  I mean, sheesh, look at that off white one.  It went so fast it broke the back springs in the bed!  :smilielol:

I'm not ragging on the cars. I'd also kill for a GN. My point of posting those pictures is told 100% exact as Jason (Khyron) said it.

It's all crying about spilled milk by now...  Don't argue oranges and apples cause right now it doesn't matter anymore.  Mark got the shaft (period).

As for the S10's... they're not in the show.   They're outside the gates.

Here's a pisser... this old dude shows up with the nicest 413 long ram New Yorker (with hand controls) you'll ever see in your life.  It's perfect.    Hemmings doesn't have any awards for Chryslers... absolutely nothing!  It's a crock of sh8te.   It's not a "musclecar" either.

Here's my advice... stay away from Musclepalooza.    There's nostalgia drags this weekend I'll probably go up with some friends to watch.

Hmm, the vid on you tube has now been set to private!  I wonder why?  I wonder if Hemmings got involved and threatened him with a suite or something.

Well, Khyron, be sure to let him know that I had my NJ Region Antique Automobile Club of America meeting last night and stood up in front of the members attending and informed them of what had gone on.  Everyone was suprised that such a big corporation like Hemmings would do such a thing but I told them it did and that I had some questionable experiences with them and this act only reaffirmed my skepticism about Hemmings.  Hopefully it spread the word some.
