Heater Leaks Hot air constantly

And its not just ambient air from the engine. Its pushing hot air through the vents. When I bought the car the lines were blocked off. I bought the heater valve from a yard off a New Yorker. The top pipe has a doorway that closes. My question is which one of the hoses coming from the Water pump housing should go to that passageway and or do I have it connected correctly?

The rear hose is hot water out, the front hose is the return. Since they're different sizes it's pretty hard to mix them up.

So I have them hooked correct?
If that is so then where do I go next to fix this hot air. Could the door in the coolant blockoff valve just not be sealing? or am I looking at somewhere in the heater box itself for the problem.

Grab ahold of the heater hoses on both sides of the water valve, if they're the same temperature the water valve isn't closing off the flow.

In any position but off the blower runs lo/med /hi . If your heater control valve does not close all the way you will be toasty durring the summer months. It will help the radiator with the engine cooling. 

Put a clamp or needle nose visegrip on one of the heater hoses ,pinching it shut ,and drive the car . If the air stays ambient temp  your valve is not fully closing. Bad valve or cable adjustment.

I have the same exact problem, and I think my heater valve is not closing properly. If the fan is on high, the air blows cold, but if it's on the low setting, it blows hot. So I think the valve is letting some hot water through when it's "closed".

I just realized I have an original valve from the car Im workin on now. Might as well borrow it. I will try the little tests first though. Any one know if there is an aftermarket piece to splice into the hoses that would allow manual shutoff under the hood for in the summer?

you could go to any harware/plumbing place and get a shutoff valve and some hose fittings and cut the hose in half in the engine bay and put the valve in. should be pretty cheap and easy to do
