Thanks - I will say, it is the MOST numbers I have EVER seen on ANY 1969 Charger R/T fender tag  :yesnod: :o

PS----THIS is the most loaded '69 Charger you'll ever see (so far)

Where is this pic from? Looks like the same car, but with different wheels...

This whole ordeal is exactly why it's best not to divulge information to just anyone about how to tell if a tag has been modified from it's original state when reproduced.

It makes them easy to spot.

Actually, I really appreciate knowing WHY the car is bogus.

Sure, it's an RT and probably even an SE...

It's an automatic and probably the right color config. The rest of the story is what I find extra interesting... Esp. on the H31  :o

I wanted to focus on the options, not the color. Didn't think it was right or relevant to post the last part of the VIN. However, I was partially wrong - you all showed me the first three digits of the last six, were VERY important to prove the car is not what it seems...

No H31 EVER on the tag......

207XXX too early for a 7/1 SPD

No SUCH radio R35 for a Charger.

The A33 is the least of this poor tag's problems....

Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Looking at the 1969 Charger Reg. site, I saw this:
QuoteEN2
End of tag 2nd shift

N/A

Found so far on cars built after 5/1969

So the car in question should have had this, right?

This car really seems to be a basket... Wonder what it originally was...

BTW,

Just pulled the codes for another 1969 RT SE and you all were right, no H31 code before H51... and the car does have rr def.  :slap:

As the world turns....

Yes IF it really had an SPD of 7/1/69 but with that VIN# should be 11/11/68 or so...

Wow! That's WAY OFF!!!!

Wonder what the car should / would have been, originally...

Do you think others know the car is "bogus" and that's why it has been for sale for so long??  :popcrn:

Is this thing going to end up with a new tag?

I hope not - that would add a whole new level of BS by the selling dealer....  :flame:

Yeah - My wife asked if I was still considering the car. I told her, based on the info from the web, I lost all interest in that car, whatever it is/was...

She told me to be patient and buy a real car without stories and BS - I am a lucky guy!!!  :2thumbs:

...maybe I should post the pics of the Charger she sent home for me to look over  :drool5:

you could compare the actual body numbers stamped on the rad support and rear trunk gutter to see if at least those numbers match the fender tag.then you could decide if it really is at least an rt.also the rear rubber bumper above the axle is different between dana and non dana cars, another way to tell an actual dana car(that is if it looks original and hasn't been changed).the dana bumper is much larger.ps my t5 69 charger rt comes close to having as many options as the red car tag shown.its in the registry...xs29j9g270xxx.

wonder what the the reserve is??  if it comes out as a rt/se then still a decent looking car, he may have bought it that way and has no idea its wrong, seller rating is down but still has alot of good transactions sooooo????

maybe still a decent buy just needs a realistic fender tag made for it by the new owner so this doesn't come up again in later years

I have to adamantly disagree with you Robert....a realistic tag SHOULD NOT be made IF there is no Broadcast Sheet to back it up......  :Twocents:

Seller did not present a Broadcast Sheet when asked. No other real paperwork was offered, either.  :popcrn:

Spot-on!

There is one with a 245xxx VIN and a mid Dec build date... Good info!

Also, on ebay, the car in question hit $29k and did not meet reserve. Go figure...

I emailed Galen Govier a while back out of curiosity of my fender tag...when i bought the car...the tag was in good shape, and i wrote down all the codes...in order...gulf coast climate has rusted the tag...i still have it in my tool box but it is not legible.   I emailed to see if i could get aqnother tag stamped based on my information....and he replied yes...   NOW....my car is just a base model 383 car...so im thinking if it was a true XS car...he would need more concrete info.   Is it possible  that this fender tag may have been repopped through someone other than Galen??   And....has Galen ever studied this car?   I know there are a lot of mixed feelings about him....but it seems to me that he would be the one to shed some light on that particular fender tag....Could it have been special ordered that way??

Absolutely. I will not name the vendor (it is no secret, but I don't want to help the scammers). Galen does not make reproduction tags. He farms this business out to another company. That company will deal direct and if you provide them with a rubbing from your old rusty tag, or a broadcast sheet, they will make a reproduction tag. However, if you lack those items, they will make a tag to your request. If there are errors, then the final tag will have errors. They offer no guidance for tags designed with no broadcast sheet or remnants of original tag.
