Okay...okay...before you all jeer me I did a small (8" long by 3" high) repair to my lower rocker just in front of the passenger rear tire at the bottom of the panel. I did a bit of metal work, some fiber glass fill and used a shaker can to paint and blend in. I'm certainly not a pro but it came out okay.

Thank goodness that white is very forgiving!

The question is how long can I wait before sanding (1500 wet sand) and a buff to completely blend it in with the rest of the car. I painted yesterday morning.

Thanks!

There's too many variables. What's the temperature, how many coats of paint did you put on, is it acrylic enamel paint? Never really supposed to paint car with acrylic enamel as there's no UV inhibitors and it stays soft forever.

Bill, wait a week and you should be fine.
Sand VERY lightly, or else you'll see a ghost line if you did not use any kind of blending agent.

I just repaired the chip in the edge of my door. That was a blast, really. Fun, fun, fun.  :sarcasmalert:
I filled it with polyester filler, spotted it in real small with DP epoxy primer. Then, base color & clear. Kept it real small, & right after the clear flashed I used a product by Sherman Williams in a spray can to melt in the clear. It is a blending agent in a spray can. Body shops use this when there is no break off area, such as in the C-pillars on quarter panels, rockers, etc. I think the number on the can is DS10.
I used PPG 2042 fast dry clear, waited 2 days, & just buffed it last night. An almost invisible repair. I'll be posting pics soon on the thread for my '69 (Project '69).

Thanks. I'll wait till next weekend and then get after it with 1500 grit and wet sand it. It should knock down the over spray and feather the edge.

Normally I'm pretty hyper but I have to remind myself to take this one slooooooowly.
