Hey guys I know I don't post much as I never really know what to say (never want to sound stupid) but I do browse here every day looking at all your guys cars and progress and such :2thumbs:. I have had an love affair for Chargers since I was a kid and have owned 23 Chargers so far most third gens and I'm known for it here. Although I've owned alot of Chargers I have still learned alot from the people on here. :yesnod: Thanks for that makes me even love them more ;)! Any way I have a ? for you guys. I am ready to paint my 69 and I was going for the whole Dukes theme but had a change of heart. Here is what I want to do. I want to paint it Fc7 even though I know it didn't come factory for 69, white tail stripe with black interior and white not black around tail lights with craigers I just bought. I also want to go with the Keisler 5 speed instead of the four speed, have any of you used this trans? So my ? is what do you think of this combo any input will be appreciated! Thanks-Rich

I think FC7 with a white stripe, black interior and Cragars would look great! I personally think the downside to your idea would be the white tail light panel.....black would look much better in my opinion :Twocents: :yesnod:

WTF is FC7? Why can't we just say the color?

Plum Crazy is a perfect color (this comes a Hemi Orange freak). Plum Crazy would be perfect on a refrigerator or an airplane!!!! It works every time.

I vote that you go Plum Crazy. Even better with the white stripe. :2thumbs:

:scratchchin: Sounds nice, better then aother DOH clone to me for sure...  :shruggy: and, you could always change the tail panel back to black if it didn't seem right to you.  :yesnod:

Very true ;). I saw a yellow 69 with the white tail and stripe and thought it looked good and different, that's were I got the idea.

Just my opinion, but if it's not a rare or desirable numbers matching car, paint it whatever color you want. I painted my '69 Sublime (that's FJ5 for those with your decoder rings  ;) ). No original motor, no fender tag, no build sheet, etc.

I've seen plum '69's before, they look real good. Not as good as a 1970 Charger looks in plum crazy, but it still looks good.

I have the 5 speed tremec from Keisler in my Charger and I love it.

It is a bit ratchety so if you plan on drag racing and speed shifting you might not want it.

Just got my paint today! :2thumbs: I will post pics as soon as my camera gets back...I ordered the white tail stripe and I'm even thinking of rocker trim but haven't decided. As for the white tail I'm going to give it a shot either way I can always change it ;). As for the five speed I'm up in the air on that. My motor is a mild built 383, I just wondered on the five speed as it would give me less tear on the engine as I plan on driving the wheels off her. :icon_smile_big:. Thanks for all your in put !

IIRC, the original "Plum Crazy" purple was kinda "Dull" compared to the latest purples offered by todays manufacturers..A buddy went through this when he was painting his '70 Challenger R/T for the 5th time...The first time he complained that the paint guy musta mixed his paint wrong as it was "Too light", when in fact, it was the correct shade for the 1970 "Plum Crazy" color..He ended up going back about 4 times getting custom mixed colors until he finally painted it almost the same "Purple" as some of the newer cars of today have...

Of course, it's your car and do what you wish, but I've always wanted a '69 In (I have no decoder ring) "Citron Yella"..With the black side stripe of course...

There is a shot of a white tailpaneled 69 Charger in the Cheech and Chong movie "Up in Smoke". I think the car is BB5 blue with a white top. It didn't look bad.

I too have the Keisler 5 speed in mine and wouldn't have it any other way!  Do it - you'll love it!!!!!!

I agree with bill440rt, if it ain't a rare matching# car then build and paint it the way you want to. My friend john told me to do it the way I wanted it to look with my car and I couldn't have been happier with the outcome.
