I've been told since last december that the AMD outters were being revamped should be back in a couple months. 2 weeks ago a distributor told me probably not till fall now :(

I have the full 1/4's,tail panel, trunk extensions, dutchman panel already. I need outters to be able to button the rear together. I've heard nothing good about goodmark outters.

Is there anyone else that makes a quality outter ? My originals are pretty chewy. With all the rest of the rusted metal being replaced with AMD parts I don't want to have patched up outters.

Thanks

I have a posting on this.  I had been struggling with the passenger side for the last month or so and then I find out that they had reproduced the wrong wheelhouse.  I just talked to AMD yesterday and they said the new ones should be here in 30-45 days  :shruggy:

I used a Goodmark one on my passenger side. Got it from Auto Body Specialties, I believe. Fit OK for me.

Just read your thread. Guess I'll wait to june-july. If i recall my outters were pretty crispy, so i think using a goodmark for patches is out of the question anyway.

I purchased Goodmark outers. And they did fit, but we had to trim the wheel well lip where it weld the the quarter panel lip where the quarter panel stain less steel trim goes . We welded it all together and it was sticking out by a 1/4 inch or so. Cut it to match the quarter panel lip and you can't even tell. I hope some post about the new AMD outer wheel wells. It would be great to see the improvements!!!! :Twocents:

My outer wheel wells were rusty and needed replacement and I bought the AMD ones a while back.  My restorer decided to save as much sheetmetal as we could so he plasma cut the old ones to where the good metal was (about 4" of metal) and then matched them up on the AMD ones and cut them to the exact shape and cut. He then welded in the new pieces and ground down the welds and you cannot tell they have been patched!

I used new AMD rear quarters too and we spot welded them all together and they came out great. This was all done on a rotisserie and looks factory now.

Not sure what the problem was with the old AMD ones but this method worked great.

With replacing all the other metal at the factory seams I'd rather wait on good outer. 1 pinhole in a weld and let the bubbling begin. I've had to redo things twice more than once in life, not this time though
