Rust Bullet

Applied the first coat this past Sunday and used about half of the one gallon container; I did the engine compartment, the interior, tail panel and most of the trunk, I used a sponge roller.

Before:

After:

Few more:

Did a little fender clean up as well.

old Walmart primer which wasn't the best idea:

Not looking too bad:

Fun stuff, not too bad to get off and the metal is perfect underneath:

Fast foward and I realize that I will not be able to get into all the nooks and crannies so I decide to take my pair of fenders to Technostrip (www.technostrip) which is close by here in Brampton, Ontario.

$300 for the pair, came out really nicely and just so nice to see so clean.

Here are a few shots:

Lol, that would be something else ~ Winter windshield washer fluid.

Winter washer fluid? What's that? We sure wouldn't need that in Winnipeg, or Winterpeg as some like to call it. lol September is coming, I guess it's time to think about stocking up. Ahhhhh!

CDN72SE

Lol, yup we'll be driving around in the white stuff in a few months.

Good to see ya here Foreman! CDN72SE, I'm real interested in how that Rust Bullet is performing. There are many areas I want to use it on my 70, like trunk and interior but their website talks about timing 2nd coats and having to apply a prep product to re-coat after it's cured. How's it behaving in use? I'm using Rust Encapsulator (From Eastwood.) with good results so far, it sands, fills in and coats (And re-coats) pretty nice. I've found I can kinda use the natural sheen as a "guide coat" telling me where I've missed sanding or have high or low spots. I've read here the Bullet is very tough, hard to sand between coats. Are you having any issues with that?

CDN72SE

Hey B5, I won't be able to coment on the durability or the longevity of it because the car is just sitting in my garage. It went on really nicely and seems very tough, I did put two coats on it. It fills nicely and levels out nicely as well. I've also used Rust Encapsulator on some bumper brackets and misc. parts as well as the roof of the car and it does do a nice job. It's nice to see some colour on the car even if it is a rust preventative product.

I've haven't got to any sanding yet so we'll see when the time comes for the primer.

Front Speakers:

Still doing little things here and there, saw some other members doing this so I thought I would give it a try as well. Bought the two speaker template from 74 Sport (Jerry).

Bought a pair of 3.5 Infinity speakers:

Painted the bracket and removed the plastic ring from the speakers:

I'm kind of tired of the Y8, I am thinking of maybe Y9 Tawny Gold, B5 or B2. I know some people say "not anothe B5 car" but living in Southern Ontario, Canada I don't see any Chargers of any color or many Mopars actually driving around unless it is at a car show and then it's usually red or black. So I am safe color wise, I know the interior is going to be white.

Here's why:
Safer, color stands out well in fog, rain, snow and at night. B5 has many options for interior colors, white, black, tan, blue all complement nicely. Correct vintage color for the classic muscular body lines of a Charger, makes the shape stand out more. (In a sea of mostly silver/black/white newer cars.) Still looks good kinda dirty, gold and light blue cars I've had only really "popped" when spotless clean.
It's my favorite color if you haven't guessed.....

Hi 69*F5*SE, I'm thinking of cleaning it up, scuffing it and maybe spraying some of Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator and/or some Extreme Chassis Black and then using some Lizardskin as undercoating as I've read others on the board doing. I'm not sure if that's too much overkill or not as I will only drive it in nice weather. It has survived all these years as is so.... I'm not getting the undercarriage painted so I figure I'll go this route. After all it is only a 72 SE  ;).

"Only" a '72 SE? Ouch.

Note my sarcastic wink, the SE's seem to get a lot of flack for the rear side windows. I don't mind them.

b5blue, you've sold me with some good points there and I'd be crazy not to go with b5. It is actually my favorite color.  :2thumbs:

Yeah  ;) I saw that. I really liked the rear quarter windows. Would have been nice had they been bigger than the ones in my 71 and had been powered.

Have the k-frame kicking around the garage so I thought I would start sprucing it up a bit.

Unfortunately I did not loosen the front nuts on the strut rod when they were attached to the LCA's and on the car.

This makes it a bit more difficult to keep the rod from spinning when turning the nut.

Did a search on the topic and read about the idea of using a torsion bar tool, have one of those, now I have a second use for it.

Tightened it and stepped on it with my 245lbs and turned.

Success

I purchased Moog kit K7026, but I think I may end up just buying the bushings and re-use my original parts.

Yes these are the originals that were on there.
