R/T emblem question

I'm about to redo my R/T emblems (grille, tailpanel) but I'm not sure how to paint them right. Is the side of the letters in chrome or painted black? My old ones are about half/half but some owner crudely painted them. All the pictures on ebay are from the top so you cant really tell.

And how do you remove the tailpanel emblem? It is attached to the panel with some sort of rivets not screws or nuts.

The sides of my new R/T emblems are 75% black and 25% chrome. My R/T emblem on the back are mounted with nuts (inside of trunk)
