hey yall, been trying to track down some replacement brake pads for my 4 piston caliper Bendix pads for 68 charger but to no avail. I know they are not making them anymore. Do not want to re-line. any suggestions on who may have or makes now. Thanks

Ghoste

When I got a set for my car it was from a guy who claimed he had several sets at home.  I got a set of NOS ones from him but the other ones he had were supposed to be old stock aftermarket ones.  I think I have contact info here somewhere so I'll dig through my junk tonight and see what I can turn up for you.

I also need brake pads now for my 1969 Charger.  Did you end up getting these and how did they turn out?

I found the local brake supply shop here in Minneapolis called Brake and Equipment Warehouse, and sure enough they had one set left of the pads that i need.  They are part number D19 and i will post pictures of them up tonight.  They seem to be an exact match to the pads i took out of my car.  Price was $70.  They make them right here in their shop.

I just received a set of pads made by CTEK....haven't put them on yet.   Got 'em from Rock Auto.

They are the exact dimensions of the original pads and they fit in the calipers nice, but they are missing the little raised tabs on the back of the pad, the little spacer type things.  I don't know if that's gonna be a show stopper or not.

This posting is now 4 monts old, so by now the original poster has surely figured something out.
But another option is to have your old pads relined.
There probably are numerous companies out there throughout America that can perform that service, but i will provide a link to a company that i have used in the past.

Still looking for some NOS or repo's, anyone know where I may find them?   Alternatively, I think a local brake shop can put new pads on my old metal, which is not great but useable.  Also, would like to find the a new/used bar spring bracket and pin bolts if possible. Thanks.

Here are some comparison photos if you like.  These are the ones from Rockauto.  Short of the bent up edges they appear to be the same, I can't recognize the need for those tap which the originals have, FWTW.

Thanks !!

As long as they stop my beast, I'm good.  :2thumbs:

(For a 69)  Well, finally determined that my rotors are to thin, no surprise I suppose.  Heard the repop rotors by, I am not sure who, needs some milling to make clear for the calipers.  Is that true and who makes them?   Anyone running the repops with good luck?  Anyone have good used ones they want to sell?

Ghoste

I can't recall now who had them either but I hadn't heard anything about milling them?

Contact a company named DURA BRAKE for new rotors.

received quote, cheaper than the last several pair of originals.  They claimed they are "reverse engineered" which I suppose most repops are..  Had a friend mention he heard on a thread elsewhere that they had to be milled a little for the caliper to clear somehow.  Would kinda like to know that prior to buying new (although it is ...new and 2013 available  :icon_smile_big:).   Anyone used these with good or bad luck?  Thanks.

Many years ago, Frank Mitchell, (Mitchell's Motor Parts) reproduced a one piece rotor for the Bendix, 66-69 B body Mopar cars.
There was rumor going around, that in some way, the rotor had to be "machined", or that the bottom of the caliper had to be ground in a minor way, for clearances.
Dunno.
I had a pair of his rotors, and when i rebuilt a Bendix set up, that i had, and sold it off. I never noticed any clearance problems anywhere.

But if your going to be buying rotors from Dura Brake, it will be a rotor only, (no hub) and you will be using your original hubs onto the new rotors.
Just like the factory two piece rotors.
Just my  :Twocents: on this subject.

I got repop 1 piece rotors from YearOne, not sure if I need to grind the pads to get them on the repop rotors or not, I know I had a difficult time trying to get them installed on the rotors, and finally gave up deciding to let the brake shop worry about it when I put new brake lines on.

I also have a set of brakepads that came with a pair of rebuilt calipers a few years back, they fit the calipers fine, but keeping the pads spread enough to get them onto the rotors was a pain, enough that I decided to put it off till later .  I'll go out to the garage and get the brand and part number, and add it to the post in a little while.

Part no:  AXXIS Centric 107.00190  replaces 731-D18 (made in Australia)

On a side note, I have a extra set of 69 bendix calipers on the garage shelf.  would probably need rebuilding and cleaning.

Thank you.  For the subject car, being a factor disc brake car I am compelled not to change from factory....  I did on my beater driver RTSE end up using mid 70's A body disc brake a friend of mine hooked/set me up with and they continue to work fairly well.
