Almost done with my 69...

Well, almost done with the mods I want to it anyway  :icon_smile_big:  Seems these things are never really done.  Just got done changing the interior over to white.  The door panels and such are just painted for now, but the upholstery and seat buns are new.  Still waiting on some miscellaneous parts (wood dash trim, seat hinge covers).  I installed 5x7 speaker in the rear tray and have the radio hidden in the glove box.  The only thing left in here is to add a console.  Exterior wise, I need to go get my G70s mounted and while I'm installing new glass, I'll be putting on a new white vinyl top and white headliner too.  I have the 4.10 Dana 60 just about ready to go in with new bearings, seals, and brakes.  And lastly, I'll be yanking the motor/front suspension assembly for a suspension rebuild, engine detail/reseal (lot of leaking gaskets!!), and installing HP manifolds.  The icing on the cake will be a nice 2.5" dual exhaust out the back after it's all said and done.  Hope to have it all done in about two months for some cruising. :2thumbs:

Cheers

And this is after the wetsanding and polishing.  Yes, there are a few flaws here and there.  But overall I'm very happy with it.  I built the car to drive and enjoy.  Can't wait to yank the engine to detail the engine compartment ;D :2thumbs:

Great looking car!  :drool5:

Any chance I could get you to post a few more pics of the interior? I am looking at a 68 with blue on white and am trying to find pics for the wife and I to see as the car is disassembled.

Does the radio have a remote control?  Or do you have to open the glove box to change the channel?

Very nice color combo also!!   :drool5:

Thanks for the compliments! :2thumbs:  I've got the G70 redlines on now, and the 4.10 Dana and HD springs go in this weekend!  No remote, so yeah, up comes the glove box for a frequency change.  Not a big deal really.

Unfortunately, the engine had to come out for a few reasons:  Mainly, clutch chatter.  I converted it over to a 4spd and had some nasty clutch chatter right off the bat.  Bellhousing indexed and everything adjusted.   I've replaced and converted many a clutch, so this puzzled me.  Come to find out after I yanked the motor (due to a broken exhaust stud in the head trying to add HP manifolds :flame:) that the pressure plate fingers are not in sync.  In other words, one of the fingers is higher than the other resulting in the pressure plate not engaging the disk smoothly.  I got all my parts from Jamie Passon and after talking to him, he told me to ship them back so he can send them to McCleod to see what the deal is.  Pretty pissed, but Jamie is such a standup guy.  He rebuilt my 4spd and did a fantastic job.  I should be on the road next month I hope, with a detailed engine, painted engine bay, redlines and the Dana in.  Last will be the vinyl top and courtesy of Troy (the wing car Troy, not the "Troy" Troy.. :icon_smile_big:) and some parts trading, a center console.

Cheers

I went over to car domain, and looked at all your pictures.

Wonderful work, you really put a great amount of talent and work into your Charger.

Spoken from a true car guy...

2 questions...did you ever get the console?
And this is an early build 69 model, that's why the headrests are missing, is that right?

  BEAUTIFUL CAR!

Thanks for the compliments!  :icon_smile_big: Yup, it's an early build 69.  September, actually, so no headrest..  I have the console, but it's for an auto and I need to modify it.  But I think I actually may have the car sold so that'll have to wait for the next car to go in.  I'm trying to get an A12 Bee, so that will be the next acquisition.   I'm almost done with my coworker's 68 too.  I'll post those pics when I get it done shortly.
