if its not one thing its another.  came back from mopar madness yesterday worked on my car a lil bit, started her up and put her to bed for the night.  today i just left my car in its bay replaced the turn signal switch and went to fire her up and it doesnt start!! i have a chrome mopar electronic ignition. i have 12 volts to the coil, both sides of my ballast resistor and no sparg at the plugs.  i also put a spark tester on the coil to distributor wire and still did not get a spark.  so i feel i have a been coil.  am i right or a big dumb dumb?
thanks

You have voltage at the coil, do you have a path to ground out of the coil? Never forget the ground circuit. Could be just a loose or poor connection.
Could also be the pickup in the distributor, or a bad box. Not enough info to say for sure.

what other tests shouldi do to narrow it down? at the negative side of the coil i have 12 volts as well

I don't have a specific diagnostic for your system. Since you have voltage at the coil, it's most likely that you have a failure in the trigger mechanism. Pull the distributor cap and make sure everything is tight and undamaged. check the distributor shaft to be sure the bushings aren't worn out and the shaft wobbling.

all is tight and good, motor has about 50 miles on it haha, the coil however is god knows how old, it was on the car when i bought it BEFORE restoration, looks almost like an original piece (old as shit).  thats part of the reason why im leaning towards the coil

You could ohm test the coil, but I'm not certain of the values. Should be somewhere between 1.5 and 5 ohms, probably. Or replace it with a known good one.

appreciate the help, ill try that tomorrow mornin.  ill keep u posted

Check the coil secondary output with a sparkplug or hold the coil wire about 1/4 inch from the block and have someone crank the car over. Try a second coilwire or sparkplug wire and repeat the test.

Look for broken cap/rotor ,damaged primary triger wires from the distributor to the ECU., wet cap.

You replaced the turn signal switch, then the car wont start :scratchchin:  Any chance you damaged the wires to the ignition switch while you where in there?

You said you had 12 volts at the coil. Try turning the ignition on then crank the car by jumping the starter relay with a screwdriver. This would bypass the crank portion of the ignition switch.

Couple ideas. :Twocents:

 :iagree:

DOH!
yup, could be the crank circuit is absent too.

so finally got around to it.  took out the coil to do a bench test, turns out the coils garbage, buying a new one asap,  any suggestions??

I Use the MSD Blaster with MSD box and Mopar Electronic distributor. I take the original  38 year old coil ,which still works, as a back up with me on out of state trips or to foreign country's like Michigan.

thats the one i was thinking to get  :2thumbs:  as for the msd box, i want the 6al-2 but i think to save a few pennys for now im going to stick with the mopar chrome one.  is the msd box worth the upgrade?  haha foreign countrys like michigan

Stock ignition box is fine. Msd gives multiple sparks below 3000rpm . If the mixture ignites on the first one like it should ,it does not make any differrence. Also has  a rev  limiter.

I put the MSD box on when I still had the 318 in the car to make sure it worked before I installed the 446. The 318 needed some carb work and the mutiple sparks seamed to make it run better. I have never run the 446 with the stock electronic ignition, but I think it would work fine. I have had 440's in the past with the stock ECU (30 years ago) and they ran well.
