Howdy all I have been wandering this web site for a while now so I thought that it was time to introduce my self my name is bob I am 48 years old though when my body allows I act like a sixteen year old.I have been racing playing with and resurrecting old dead mopars for 20 plus years. After watching our charger sit for 20 plus years I finally got enough money set aside to start/finish our car. So I would like some opinions on my engine build. First the car 70 charger 4-speed,dana 60(410 ratio),sub frames tied, torque boxes, power steering, manual disk brakes. Now the engine 1970 440 six pac motor. I will be using the lunati 60304 cam, lifters, springs,ret,locs,10.5 six pac pistons 20 over,1.5 rockers ,edelbrock 88cc heads, double roller timing chain, milodon large cap oil pan, windage tray,hi volume oil pump six pac carbs and intake, hooker 1 7/8 headers,2 1/2 exhaust x pipe magnaflow mufflers. I will also be using the factory heavy rods. Yes I know I should use the standard rods but I want to keep the proper balancer up front I also have the correct fly wheel for the six pac motor. All opinions are welcome.     thanks in advance     bob

Hi Bob, and welcome.
IMO,
I wouldn't sweat the 6 Pack Rods, as long as you Resize them properly WITH some ARP Bolts, and keep it to 6,000rpm, you should never have a problem, we never did !
You should be "all in" by 6,000 rpm amyways on that combo ?

I think the only downfall of the 6 pack Rod, was when Guys REALLY started winging them ?

They use the same Bolt as the "LY" Rods, but, are obviously much heavier, hence more stress.
The only 6Pk Rod failures I saw, were typically on ther broaching beside the Bolt Head,
and,
those were seeing 6,800-7,000 rpm regularily ?

Looks like a Nice combo ! :2thumbs:
Bob out.
Only wimps wear Bowties !

Sounds like a nice build. When you're machining the block square up the decks and get the pistons at zero deck. Use the .040 felpro gaskets and 84cc closed chamber heads for tight quench so it'll run detonation free on pump gas.  :yesnod:

The Hooker headers are problematic with an angled plug cylinder head....look at a set of TTI headers instead.  :Twocents:

Otherwise it looks like a solid build.  :2thumbs:
