I just got this car from an old school Mopar nut. Its a factory 340 auto car. FE5 ralle red, black top, black bumble bee stripe, bench auto. Has fender tag, I did not check for a build sheet yet. I still have to pick it up on Sunday. The center section of the rear is gone, so is the engine and trans. It is solid underneath but will need allot of sheet metal work. I would like your guys honest opinion on what this car is worth. Thanks Johnny  :METAL:

few hundred bucks IMO and that's because of the wheels that are on it.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Worth more than a few hundred bucks that's for sure. I'd say $1,500-$1,800 personally judging on what I've seen around here. GREAT looking car done!

It was converted to 4 speed at some point, I forgot to mention that. It has 1970 only factory bucket seats in it now. Johnny  :METAL:

it maybe a 340 swinger cody, but the 340 is long gone and the car is damn rusty.  what do the inner fenders look like moynihan?

buddy of mine gave $1500 for one that looked alot like that maybe a little worse it was a factory purple car though.

mikepmcs

that's my point I guess.  motor tranny rear gone.  not a real 4 speed, rusted out...... so I stick with my original few hundred bucks.

The hood with factory cut outs and scoops (no rust), the 1970 only buckets, the A-body 8 3/4 housing, rallye rims, rallye guages, grill are worth alot more than a few hundred bucks if I were to part it out. Not to mention that the car is a real H code 340 1970 dart swinger with a fender tag and matching vin number. The undercarriage is very solid and the body is restorable. I hope someone saves it. You would be way ahead if you found a decent driver for about 5K. That one's gonna take 20K. Yeah like Mike said....500 tops.

real H code or not, it is not numbers matching, its full of rust, and if anyone buys it they will be putting in a minimum of 12-15K (minimum) in the body work alone.. not even counting finding a 340 engine (750 bux for a block and then another 3k for parts and machine work, again minimum), $1500 to rebuild the 8 3/4 with new goodies, $1000 bucks to rebuild the suspension all around (minimum), then all the interior... the car will be worth less than what they have into it.

you HAVE to take that into consideration.

NOW, that being said, if you had the numbers matching drivetrain with it.. you would be in business, but since you do not and its not a hugely collectible vehicle.. its worth more in parts than it is as a whole.

~~~~~~~
your best bet is to go to www.forabodiesonly.com  they will have a better feel for this.. you are talking to b body guys who look at a bodies differently.
The car had fenderwell headers installed at one point, like most hot rod A bodys, the inner fenderwells are cut up. I will attempt to sell it complete, if nobody wants it, I will part it out. Then scrap the body, junk is up in NY again, I will probally get 400 bucks for the stripped body with filling it with other scrap I have laying around here. It just sucks because I thought I was doing good by rescueing this thing from the back of this guys house. I do this for the love of it, not to make money. All funds made from any parts or cars that I sell go to my Charger. Thats the only way I can afford to do it. I wish I could save them all. Johnny  :METAL:
not criticizing you for what you are doing, i admire your intentions, I am just sorry I cannot give you a better appraisal of what you thought you might get.  granted, remember I am in Kansas and not in NY, so your populace may value it higher due to its geographical area.  Plus, you may find that one guy who has always wanted this car since he was in high school.
Good luck and I hope for the best no matter what you do.
Thank you RD, I value everybodys opinion. I wasn't thinking you were criticizing me at all. I'm not talking steak and lobster either. I only want ham sandwiches for this rig. I will ask $2,000 for the car. In NY these things do not come up often at all, as a matter of fact, I have never laid my eyes on a Hi Po Dart around here for sale, in this price range. It is a restorable pedigree Mopar that someone can buy and fix up over time. If they lack money and have lots of ambition, this is a great car. If this was a Charger what would it be worth?? R/T and non R/T prices, I'm just curious. Thanks Johnny  :METAL:
If someone had another 340 Swinger project going, this would be a great parts car. :2thumbs:
I tend to agree with the others....finding a buyer to restore this old girl will be tough.
Even if you sold the car whole, the next guy will probably end up parting it out.  The best hope for this car is to find a buyer with either SERIOUS sentimental value to this car ....or some very DEEP pockets.  :Twocents:
Well the car sold, for $2,500. It will be restored. This makes me happy, to have sold it and gave this car a new lease on life. Johnny  :METAL:
holy crap!  good for you but I gotta say it.....there's one for everyone I guess.  I wouldn't have paid anywhere near that for that car. it wasn't even numbers anymore.  I'm really confused.  I need you to sell my heaps for me.
Nice job for sure though. WOW!  :o   :2thumbs:
Daytona R/T SE
The go-fast stickers on the trunklid are worth more than the rest of the car... ::)
Just my opinion... :shruggy:
But then again...I hate "A" bodies  :puke:
TUFCAT
Hmmm....makes me wonder if it will actually be restored ---or "rebodied"  :scratchchin:
In Ohio that may get the $2500 price also, not many 340 darts around here either. A solid floorpan is a must and the rust doesn't look crazy. Personaly I wouldn't pay that but it means about squat.
I agree, they don't come up often at all. I can assure you that the car will be restored, not rebodied. I bought the car and sold it within 2 weeks. Thats a new record for me. The next day after it sold, I brought home a 1969 Chrysler 300, 4 door, F8 green. I will fix this one up and drive it until the Charger is done. I'll have pics soon. Johnny  :METAL:
