Show and Shine idiot

I went to a little show and shine at a Auto Zone in Post Falls, Idaho today.  It was just a get together for classics and hot rods with free hot dogs and drinks.  The lot was pretty full and only one spot was left and it was next to me.  Then I see it come into the lot!  It's an early 70's Cad Sedan De ville.  It did not appear to be roadworthy.  It would barely run, it had dead weeds hanging off the bottom of it,  the toothless guy behind the wheel could hardly turn the wheel due to no power steering and didn't appear to have properly operating brakes.  Sure enough, the wife gets out to guide him in NEXT TO MY CAR!  I carefully watch this maneuvering process and it is clear that the guy is either drunk or seriously SLOW.  After a few minutes I had to jump in and yell at him not to get any closer to my car.  He had that wreck within a couple of inches of my car.  His wife then starts yelling at him and they proceed to get in an argument.  He then gets out of the car with 5 filthy little kids and they go to load up on free hot dogs.  The wife then gets in the car and tries to park it with people helping her turn the wheel from the outside.  I sat in the Charger watching this comedy for another ten minutes.  When she finally had the car away from the front of mine I had my wife move some cones and we got out of there.  I never did get a hot dog either.  That was too close for comfort.  I've never run into something like that before at any kind of show.  Bob

There always has to be at least one idiot in the bunch. Good to hear the POS didn't hit your Charger.

From the looks of them and the car, I assume they were just there for the free food.  They could have just parked the thing close by the flagged off area and still have gotten fed.  To try and bring that POS into tight quarters with some nice cars was just stupid! :flame: :flame:

Not even a Coupe Deville?  I like 70's Caddy's but it sounds like this one was a p.o.s what a Circus! I'm glad your car wasn't damaged.

I'll stay home and do my own BBQ
When there's free food involved you gotta realize that local welfare trash will show up.

Car Show/Food shelf?

Maybe they could have the free food before you get into the parking area.  You could donate on the way in for the guys that need it and the guys that need it could just get the food dropped in their back seats and not have to shut their cars off.

Wait a second.  That sounds a lot like a drive through.  Never mind.  Idea obviously needs work but I see some potential.

You're welcome for BBQ at my house too. We should do a BBQ for all Charger owners in/around Spokane, then do a cruise or something.

Sounds like fun. Am planning to be home for a visit maybe the 2nd week of June, no Charger though, after camping with the folks down in SE WA for a couple of days.

Back N Black

I feel your pain, i spent the last 5 years restoring my car and i went to my first car show on the weekend and it will probally be my last. I was just cringing to see people all over the car and a few just go too far. So i guess people will just have to see my car at 60 MPH .  :D

I'm not going to miss out on a single minute of fun. If I go to a show and get french fries and ketchup on my hood, so be it. If some idiot creases my quarter panel, so be it. If I get sandblasted driving through New Mexico, so be it. I'm going to every drive-in, swap meet, car show and Saturday night cruise I can get to. I'm going to drive this car everywhere I can, every time I can. I just don't see the point in going no farther than the end of the driveway and telling the dog, "Ain't she a beauty".

I've put over 35K miles on my car since it was completed.  So, I guess I've made it out of the driveway a few times.  Sometimes you just need to use a little common sense though.  Bob

Right, run from obvious danger lol.

I'd have been inclined to confront them and tell them to remove their POS from the area, and call an officer if I suspected a drunk.

Well you all know how I react to carshow idiots...it's just amazing how many people don't realize or seem to care that one of our cars has a paint job that is what their car is worth.

Glad you got out of there safe, Just think what would have happened if you were away from your car when the slobs showed up :icon_smile_blackeye: you KNOW they did not have any car insurance as those kind never do and they are the ones who ALWAYS park next to a nice car or truck as close as they can just so they can DING the side of your car as many times as they can & when they do that, ever notice how they get out & check the damamge on THEIR POS  ? :brickwall: I think i will start a thread on How do you stay unscathed & spot the car show idiots who always lean inside show cars with sodas, cigarettes with a mile long ash or a hot dog with dripping mustard while wearing a  5 pound key chain hooked on the front belt loop of their pants, yeah, that sounds like a good starter thread post.

There already is such a thread. It's called "Car Show Nightmares."
