Well, the wife is out of town so I figured what better than to spend the day NOT working , but instead, giving some attention to the Charger.

The shop, since I havent been using it for a couple of weeks, was of course, a pigsty due to the guy I share the building with. Great guy, he builds bikes, and we share the fab area, but the guy is a slob, so first thing was to 'set the mood' and give the shop a 'quick' cleanup...ended up taking all morning.

finally, opened the hood......so last week the motor on my vacuum assist pump took a dump and died. I decided to bypass it and just run off the manifold, and guess what....more vacuum without it. the brakes worked better...so first order of business was stripping out the pump, its lines and wiring. really cleaned the engine bay up nicely....when I go to the bigger cam I think I am going to just go ahead and get a hydroboost setup. I like the looks of the ones over at theramman.com. very simple setup, direct bolt on. for now, im just going natural.

the motor cleaned up nicely....the tangle of crap along the drivers side is well reduced. I went ahead and rerouted a bunch of other wiring and so on.Next on the agenda, after Ohlone is stripping out those lame heater hose covers I installed in some weird OMG ITS 1982 fit of passion last year. i have decided they are gay and I hate them.

Then I hopped into the back seat and set up my CC plaque. made an aluminum bracket it looks fairly sanitary and now everyone can feel the thrill of seeing a Chiseler on the road

another thing that has been bugging me where my 'traditional' hoodpins. I have gone through 2 sets, the things just instantly rust and the plastic tube on the wires seems to turn yellow and crappy after a couple of months UV exposure. Since I drive the car a lot, it gets a lot of uv ...and, I noticed the sleeved wires where starting to mar my fancy new paintjob. so..I went ahead and spent a retarded amount of money on these fancy-assed Hotchkiss ones. They are a PAIN to install...first, the hole pattern doesnt match oem, so you have to redrill your hood..then, the bolts have locknuts that fit up inside the sheets of metal of your hood, so its a fun time with a pair of long, angle needlenosed pliers and no visual ability, got to get them on by feel. took forever...indexing is also a pain because they have lettering, so you have to really pay attention. They should make them without logos...anyways, got them on and they are great. the pin has a plunger device that releases or engages a bearing to lock or unlock them so no retainer wires are needed.and, they are designed so the pin stands off the boss..no scuffing.

200 bucks tho...for hoodpins. I feel crazy.

and..during the day, my friend Dirty Donny, who among other skills, is a great pinstriper, came by to use my paint room, so I had him make this sign for me...to aggravate my shop-mate. He did it in like 20 minutes, 1-shot paint on a metal shelf...
