My '68 Charger was voted "Best Stock/Original 1962-present" car at the Maxwell car show today.  I couldn't believe it!!!!!  There were some very nice cars there.  My last 1st place win came 6 years ago, so I am one happy camper this afternoon.

Also got to meet members of this board, ChgrSteve67 and his wife at the show.  We spent an hour or two chatting about cars (of course) and after the show we parked the cars side by side and took pictures.  Steve has done an excellent job of restoring his beautiful red '67 Charger and I'm sure glad he entered it in a different division than mine because he would have easily beaten me.

Steve, it was good to meet you and I'm sure we'll be crossing paths at other car shows in the future.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Congrats!!! :2thumbs: :2thumbs:  The best awards are the ones you don't expect to be in the running for.  A few years back I was at a show with over 400 cars.  I didn't have a chance in H--- of winning anything.  BUT, I ended up going home with one of the nicest trophies there.  Apparently the highway patrolman appointed to pick out their favorite car liked my Charger.  Good thing I stuck around for the trophies.  I would usually leave early at big shows.  Bob

Last year at our end of the year cruise I wheeled around with the president of our club to help decide on club picks, etc.  There was a family with a '71-'72 Impala there.  You could tell they were new to the cruise scene.  The car was a little rough but there was a lot of effort put into having it look clean.

Dave announced their class & after a bit they packed up & were leaving.  I wheeled over & told them they should stick around for club picks.  They had a puzzled look on their face since afterall it was a Mopar themed show.  All I could tell them was we talked about their Chebby.

I didn't know whether they were gonna win but when their names' were announced winning club pick the Father told the kid to go up for the trophy.  They were beyond excited.  The kid's face was beet red, hell he was shaking.  I started telling them about our upcoming show & they were like a couple bobble heads agreeing that they'd be there.

I know for a fact we made their day.  That $25 trophy just gave them some thing to talk about for a long time.  I was proud to be part of a car club that day.

Sorry so long.
