I hate searching for parts on ebay and having to sort through 90% bumper stickers, postcards, and posters which are listed as 'parts and accessories' instead of their appropriate section.

Just thought of another one, people who are asking an arm and a leg for a 10 year old diesel pickup with a quarter million miles on it and the add says "these diesels will go forever. Suppose the driveline, suspension, brake lines and body will to.

I guess I've just gone num to this stuff that I dont care anymore.  Though the comment about not showing up, as you wait around and re planned your day sucks big time.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Even more of an insult as how many people know about a marlin?

Ads that say this car would be worth X amount of dollars with a Hemi.  No kidding! I don't have a hemi though.....

Or the phrase "cold cash" :smilielol:

Green71R/T

Most of my pet peeves have been covered, but I will add a few.
People who ask if they can drive a car I am selling for $500.00 a 1000 miles home.Sure if you want.
I always put my phone # in the ad and then I get an email asking for my #.
The email saying I'll give you X amount of dollars for it sight unseen but they will not respond to any follow up on my part.

And how about the old standby....  SELLING MY CAMERO. I HATE TO DO IT BUT IM HAVINGA BABY.

so, you can reproduce but can't spell the name of the car you've been driving aroumd in and HATE TO SELL???

jeryst

People who ask you the same questions that have already been answered in your ad description.

Not just peeves about selling either.

How about people that point out every little flaw on your car.

Had a guy walk past my car the other day and say to his buddy "It's just a driver".
I wanted to say "How many trailer queens you got, buddy?"

How about everytime you have a car for sale it is not worth what you want. Later on you see crap that sold for more!

Or the same a hole that just bought yours and selling it for more money after he fed you the line of bs that it was for his daughter to go off to college in.

Excited buyer wants to be there right now. Then has dropped truck off at dealer for some reason and the item won't fit on his Corvette. So bring it with me on Wednesday when he is supposed to pick it up...no call no show. I email and he writes back that his neighbor gave him his old one...ok. I will keep his email...and never answer him again

When I post a car for sale/trade (especially in craigslist) and they contact you and tell you all about their car collection and the cars they had or that they would like it but they have to wait to sell their car, yada yada. Or they have a car to trade but it's "worth more" than mine so they won't trade. So why are you telling me about it? Call me when you actually have money or a car to trade!   :RantExplode:

Many of them just call to talk cars. Listen, I like talking cars as much as the next guy, but sheesh!

Or the guy I sold my '68 Jeep CJ6 plow truck to for $750.00. It wasn't in the greatest shape and had some minor issues that I told him about, but it ran, drove and plowed snow. I used it for 13 years and it still worked fine. I mean, it's 750 bucks for cripes sakes! I think that's cheap for a working plow truck. Well, after he got it home he started to nit pick about all this minor crap. I politely told him that I would happily help him with any major problems that it had (there were none). I finally told him to bring it back because "obviously you're not happy with it" and I would refund his money. He didn't want to. He just wanted to complain.

bull

This one is pretty nit-picky even for me but there's something that really gets on my nerves about guys who take pictures of their car or motorcycle like 30 seconds after they wash it. The car/bike is still wet, the friggin' garden hose is still laying there and there's a 25-foot diameter wet spot on the concrete (pic below). Can't they at least let the thing dry and pretend that it's been cleaned and well maintained? If I see a wet car or bike and the garden hose is in the pic I know they don't take care of their stuff.

1. Using NOT in an ad title.
This is really starting to pi55 me off. Someone puts a Dodge truck up for sale, and in the description they say "Dodge truck not Cuda, Charger, Hemi"
Makes me just want to call them or email them and tell them what kind of absolute idiot they are!

The reason they use the word "not" is so they can get more word search hits. Say you're selling a less popular model of car like a Dart or Coronet so you say "1974 Dart for sale, not Cuda, not Charger" so now everyone that does a word search for a Cuda or Charger is going to see your ad.

I'm currently listing cars for a friend on Craigslist and I noticed you always get the one guy who ALWAYS has to give his opinion on how much he thinks the car is worth. I had one guy send me an email saying "$500 car tops".....exact wording. ::)

People that put FOR SELL instead of FOR SALE....take an english class moron.

People that put rare NOS on things that were common to millions of cars.

People that associate terms like hemi, 440 6 pak, R/T (or in the Chevelle world) LS6, L78, SS, etc on a friggin door handle.

People that put crappy ass cell phone pics on a car they think they are going to get $30,000 for...learn how to take a picture dumbass.

The worst one I see that annoys me to no end is some dummy that can't spell CAMARO...it's 95% of the time spelled Camero.  There's multiple emblems on the car with the spelling of the name of it :brickwall:.

People that think they know everything about every car ever made and say it with such certainty.  Can't tell you how many people I've busted on that and embarassed.  Then follow up with...Where's you car??

That's just a few reasons I don't waste my time selling much of anything on craigslist or ebay.  It's also the reason I don't go to local car shows anymore.  I can't stand people and they're dumbass comments.  I stick to Chevelle or Mopar only shows now.

A couple more of mine, whenever someone describes a limited slip as a "posi" but it isn't a Chev differential.  Another term that is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me is "tic-toc-tach".  For years and years, the only ones I ever heard describe it as that were Olds fans and then all of a sudden it became the accepted term with the Mopar fans too.

I was driving my camero and realized that my sure grip was vibrating because my tic-toc-tac that I just bought cause it was for sell seemed to be off. I was then thinking I should sell this car for some cold hard cash. I mean, I just had a kid and cause really use the moneys! Now I know this is a super rare RT model, so I know it's worth a TON of money, so don't low ball me! and no, I will not sell it over seas! My car is American and it needs to stay here! Now remember this is a LAST CHANCE SALE! so you must contact me quick or I will just not sell it! This car has a lot of Sentimental value, my baby was born right in the back seat... I only have my cell phone so if you want pictures I can sms them to you. Tires are like NEW! only been on the car for one year also, so that's worth some more money! It is a great driver, but will need some patch work and a new truck floor to be installed, I put truck liner on the bottom of the car, but it will still need to be done.

I won't be around for a few days, so just leave a message and I'll respond as soon as I can.

When Barrett Jackson Auctions are: 1- Used in the ad, and 2- Used inappropriately. Example:

Quote1969 Dodge Charger. Typical rust in rear quarters, trunk pan, outer wheelhouses. Frame rails in rear need patch, torsion bar crossmember needs replacement. Inner fenders have pin holes. Aftermarket seats. Non original 318. A 1969 Dodge Charger R/T just sold on Barrett Jackson for $75K! Only $6K for this one!
