Our top three Generals..

I don't claim to know a lot about the Dukes,.. not my Fav. show, we didn't even own a TV when that show was originally aired I watched it once just to see my favorite car cause the commercial showed a '69 Charger doin'  a SUPERMAN act...  IT"S A BIRD! IT"S A PLANE NO,.. IT's SUPERCHARGER!!! :scratchchin: my Favorite TV show is probably WIRED...  :shruggy:
but anyhow,..
alot of kids who grew up with the show - some maybe in reruns - are getting to the point where they're building or looking for a charger to clone. and, since the "legendary" General Lee is such an Icon and the subject of so many tribute chargers or as in JBs' case "Tribulations"   I thought it would be cool to list some of our favorites,..

And so without further ado,.. I bring to you my picks for the Most Awesomist Jennie Lees

first off, in the number three spot..

I loved the flat black general Lee that tripleblkr/t sold soon after it's completion last Yr.

I have no idea exactly why it was sold so soon after it's being finished,   :shruggy: it seems a shame somehow and I hope wherever it is,..  it's being enjoyed to the fullest... flipping off mustangs and 350 bowties,. I just like it's (kinda') stealthlike style with the flat black paint, fourspeed and sunroof it made a nice counterpoint to the more,..  dare I say it,.. run of the mill jennie lees... .

Still the damn car looks BITCHEN!  :o

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,62416.0.html

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjCdfyS0oQs  old warhorses never die they just fade away.....  :patriot:

In number two for me would have to be the Colonel,..
http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,51717.0.html

I like that Charger alot,.. It's used and has been continually upgraded and improved and tips it's hat to the show without ever quite crossing over to Clonesville USA.

                              :2thumbs:

And in Number 1....

a drum roll and the envelope please.... .... .....   :shruggy:

Personally,..  I really enjoyed the Duketona build and the wild-style mods... though i'm not wild about the forward radiused wheelwells in front,..  they do seem - some how - to balance the Sublime dayto,.. err, duketona stripe in back, that car is like if a blindman was asked to discribe an Elephant and then to build one out of chewing gum and toothpicks. I love the car, it's more then just the sum of it's parts.. It's gotta freakin ejection seat for christsakes!!! How cool is that?!  :2thumbs:
           the build..

Gentlemen-thank you for your passion ! I have a "scab-job" of an old Charger. I was told when I bought it-that it WAS used in the '05 DOH movie, then returned to HLPAG. Maybe it was-maybe NOT. I did not buy this car for ANY investment/collector value.I bought it to stuff an old 331 HEMI mill I bought 15 years ago into SOME kind of B-body car and enjoy it ! Mopar Charlie Gluck's cars/articles inspired me ! I enjoy Elbow-grease ENGINEERING. I believe in truly being able to take all my mechanics/machine shop/engineering skills to their limits as an ART-Form. Remember- I may be "doing it on the cheap..."-but so did NASA with the Saturn 5 in 1969 using the cheapest priced engineers/subcontractors to pull off the impossible-and LAND a MAN on the Moon as Kennedy quoted, "before the end of the decade-land a man on the moon and safely return him to the earth. This will not be easy-but will measure all the talents and capabilities of man in a combined effort. We do this because it is not easy, but because we believe in what we will accomplish-our energies combined for all..."
If you all look at the "wing-cars"of 69/70 (when we went to the MOON)...they were varied race cars with MANY color combinations-so they would be EASILY Recognizable on the track and they too were feats of engineering and ART combined ! This is what I celebrate. The 60's were a tumultuous TIME of ART/COLOR/WAR/Technological advancement. To have the talents/shop/crew that George Barris has had building The Munstermobile, Grandpa's Coffincar DRAGULA, The Batmobile, Knightrider, A-Team van, etc. inspired us all as we grew-up. Cars such as Herbie the Love Bug we've used at The Children's Orthopedic Hospital-sponsored vintage races here in Wash. State create MAGIC, awe and joy in all people. My cars stock-or not create this magic and joy; thus, joy for myself as their creator/restorer/engineer/artist. I do this FOR the Good for all...and do not believe in being NEGATIVE towards others, which is EVIL. We are Americans-a YOUNG country-yet the most creative/accomplished group of folks since the Romans to do GOOD for all in such a short time period !
Attached in the last 8 pages of this thread are pictures of my Wife's old '66 race-car , Herbie Our Love Bug, and Dave Day's old school 392 inspiring HEMI A-gas OLD SCHOOL nostalgic drag rail. I enjoy helping others re-build cars "shot to hell" and teach/inspire them to BELIEVE in themselves and their deep-rooted talent/capability/artistic feats. This is WHAT makes us all successful Americans.
Thank you
-The TESH

I grew up on the Dukes and used to enjoy the wrangling I had to do with my parents to get the tv channel turned to the next episode. It wasn't exactly what they wanted to watch for some reason.  :shruggy: :slap:

Great choices! These are unique cars and I have enjoyed reading about every one of them. That flat black general was my favorite and in fact I would probably reverse the order.  :2thumbs: I suppose I like them a tad more because they are a twist on a theme. I like to see what I love in different dress.  :naughty:

Its hard to overlook a superb clone though. Like JB666's

I am not a huge Duke's fan, watched it alot as a kid but was a 3rd gen charger fan then so the 69 just wasnt my style.  but, my top three would be:

extreme lee
the colonel
flat black lee
67 Plymouth Barracuda, 69 Plymouth Barracuda, 73 Charger SE, 75 D100, 80 Sno-Commander

THE COLONEL

Wow.  Thanks for including me in this post.  I really am touched that many of you enjoy my car.  I do take pride in it to put smiles on many faces, and for the locals who don't get to see a General Lee in person, they seem to be almost just as excited to see The Colonel.  Thanks again guys. :icon_smile_big:

No offence to anyone, but I personally feel the GL is way to over cloned. BUT, that said, I'd love to have Kenny's car because it is radically different :yesnod: :drool5:

My fav is KWS Extreme Lee. Very tastefully done.  Number 2 would be the flat black Lee

Btw, can someone tell me again the reason for the green wing on the Duktona? Was it just a preference or is there a hidden meaning?...... Blue, black or white would have been a better choice in my opinion.

The black General Lee is very cool. I like my #22 car it has lots of cool history. The car is a real stunt car with heavy modifications. The cars that were built for specific scenes are cool just to see how they were built. Still has the grafitti on the tailights.

G-man

Xtreme Lee wheels look horrible

Duktona looks like a car that was slapped together. I mean, green with orange doesnt even work as a colour combination

Why was the black GL sold... that car looked really good.

The Colonel is different and cool.

I was trying to work out whether he was for real or trying to stir the pot again by saying the best generals are the ones that dont even resemble generals.

Colonel is nice but isnt a general, the duktona looks like a joke (hence I figured he was trying to stir the pot) but the Black GL looks good, so i thought maybe hes serious. :shruggy:

Stir the pot or not, its a paint job.

Jb666 gets my vote for no 1

The colonel is no 3

That Daytona fake is a hideous turd. What idiot paints a car that way?

TruckDriver

Ok, I realize this is a old thread, But does anyone have or know of anymore photos of the black GL (making a clone of it in the video game Forza Horizon). I absolutely loved that car, and was wondering whatever happened to it after it got sold?

I'm not a huge General clone guy, BUT that black one I would love to clone to a real Charger too.
