okay so i have a 1973 dodge charger. base edition, 318 small block. 727 tranny

Im attemping to the body off the frame but noticed something odd, no bolts.

Does anyone know if this car is a uni-body or what?

and if it is a uni-body, can the body still come off the frame?

thanks for the help, just a simple question

yes is a unibody , cant take the frame off  ! well you can but not easy  , what you will effectively doing is drilling out all the factory spot welds  :yesnod: so sort of dismantling the welded body ! need to mount the body on a frame rack with measurement points to put it back with in factory tolerances / alignment

well damn! that really sucks. so the onlyw ay to take it off is to drill out the spot welds, then when i go about putting the boady back on, i have to get some measuring tool and reline it up and such right?

You will have to have a bunch of cross braces welded throughout the interior of the car to "hold it together" If you decide to do that. Without them the body will sag and warp and the chances of getting it back straight will be greatly diminished. By the way why would you do that. I can't think of any reason to remove a unibody from it's frame rails completely? Sections of it yes. But the whole thing?

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

Mopars are all unibody since earliers 60s ( 61/62 was the cross year ).

since there is not a frame really you can just drill the spots and remove all the frame rails and crossmembers ( 4 frame rails and 2 crossmembers ). Voila! you will get all the virtual frame off LOL, and then lot of shaped sheetmetal welded together.
