These old Monte Carlos... I just think they ooze with style and comfort...

Last night's car show was a bit of a dud because of the threat of bad weather, but this ended up being my favorite of the night...

:rotz: I'd rather own a 76-ish Charger or Magnum than one of those. And I'd rather eat a crap sandwich than own one of those.

 Tell me how you REALLY feel...

Growing up, my brother had one of these, and I remember it riding down the road like my living room sofa... I guess I'm biased because I had good childhood memories involving this car...

There wasn't a huge selection there last night ,unfortunately.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I agree Jeff.  I dig em too. :2thumbs:

:iagree: X3 I haven't seen one on the road in over 20 years up here now. I think most of them were used up as race cars.

I sorta know what you mean...   but I prefered the mid 70's Grand Prix over the MC.
When I sold Sinnamon way back when I got a '76 GP SJ /  400-4, T400.  Gold / tan velour bucket interior.  Really nice car.  Wrecked it after I brought it out here to NY  :P

Kinda agreed, but just if a Magnum
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

I had a '82 Monte Carlo diesel of all things back in High School. Swapped the diesel out for a '72 Buick 350 and left the 2.20ish gears in the back. Man that thing would go down the road.

I use to beat up on my friends '74 Charger SE 318 all the time with it. :whistling:

1969 Charger R/T 440 4 speed
1970 Charger 500 440 auto

I can't imagine that these didn't sell well and yet you never see them around here.

They had to be prone to be rust buckets.

I haven't seen one in years.

magnum

I would rather have a Magnum ;).
Takes a MOPAR to catch a mopar!

you dont see many of those anymore because they all rusted away ?  I remember seeing them after only being 3 or 4 years old and the door skins on the bottom of them flapping in the wind from rust .

GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

b5blue

My neighbor bought one the first year they came out, SS 454, my God what a machine! Later in the Air Force a buddy had a all white one he had bought and delivered to him in Germany then shipped back with him state side, I've never seen one with so many options as he had! I can tell you they were cruise missile's back in the day, both racked up tons of high speed runs in superb comfort! They both had the console with the neat kinda hoop shaped shifter. I doubt many survived the first gas crunch though.  :2thumbs:

Local guy had a 78 XE for sale a couple of weeks ago. Needed a little body work,
but only had 70k miles on it and he was asking $2500. I remember it had a V8, maybe a 400 or something like that.
Dont know if that was a good deal or not.

The70RT

70-72 and the 78-87 were the better looking ones. The 73-77's were Chevy's Caddy's back then. Hell the Impalas looked better IMO. The only thing I liked about them was you could pick one up cheap and rob the drive train for a Nova or Chevelle back then.
