Electrical pusher fan with A/C

The A/C is installed and working. The temps stay around 180 with A/C off. Get around to just over 200 with A/C on. But with summer coming I was a bit worried about overheating. I am in :flame: Phoenix :flame: and the heat is coming! So I installed an electric pusher fan last weekend. 14" Summit branded fan. I wanted a fan that would not restrict natural air flow too, to, much. I am hoping it will make a difference when we get really hot. Only been in the upper 90's so far this spring.

The fan just mounts to the A/C condenser coil. I had to set it to one side, would not sit in the middle due to the center support.

I used a relay that comes in when the A/C comes on, mounted it right next the the A/C T-stat relay. Picked up power for the fan from the BAT terminal at the fuse block, took it through the normally open contacts on the relay then out to the fan.

Looks nice, I can relate about the HEAT COMING....I'm in Florida. You may want to supply power for the fan right off the Alt. to keep the extra load out of the harness wiring. Keep an eye on bulkhead wire temps to see if anythings getting really hot under max. load.  :2thumbs:

That is a great idea. My plan is to replace the old alt. wire with a new heavy gauge wire from the alternator straight through the bulkhead plug to a new 4 circuit fuse block. Then tie the stock fuse block circuit to the new heavy gauge wire. Then I can have more circuits for the fan, power seats, real big amp maybe, etc. That is my plan anyway. How long till I get to it????

That would happen just if alt is enough to feed it

And it wont be at idle. That is why a heavy guage wire to the fuse box is needed. Draws a lot of power from the battery at idle, then puts a lot of power back in to the battery at speed. Both wires need to be a heavier gauge than the factory put in I would think.

Yes, still no word from Quick Start on the improved alt. yet.  :scratchchin:

but we still have the stuff tuff, powermaster and some other alts... untill a good kit come to float, making a more reliable upgrade.

Myself I already got the Beck/Arnley one ( 78 amps ), is now on the sea in between Florida and Venezuela ;D
