My sister came across this ad for an ATV on a Buy & Sell website. She emailed the seller and this is what she got back....

"Hi,

The 2009 Polaris Sportsman 850 EFI XP it is in excellent condition .Clear title. It has never seen mud or even been off road. It is in showroom condition with only 39 miles on it. It has power steering and a factory installed winch. It also has a quick detachable Polaris snow plow. It only takes around 1 minute to remove or put the snow plow on.The price is $2500 shipping included and is located in Alma QC . For the moment I am in Ireland with work, but this is not a problem because i can deliver it to your shipping address (i will pay for the shipping and insurance fees) and i will agree to let you test and inspect it for 5 days just to be sure. In this 5 days you will test the conditions of the atv . If something won't be like you expected to be you can return it without any expense. It will come with all the paper work. The deal will go through ebay. In this way both of us will have the required assurance that the deal will take place well. A refund policy will be included. If you agree with these terms please reply me with your full name, shipping address and phone# so that i can forward them to ebay . They will send you a complete list with instructions.
I`m waiting for your reply as soon as possible.

Thanks!"

She asked for my input on it considering I buy and sell car parts on Craigslist and I told her I personally think it's a scam. Do you guys get the same thought I do?

Ask the seller if you can personally come out and inspect the ATV. If they say yes, it is probably a legit ad. If not, I would say it's a scam. They tell you up front on CL that any offers to ship a vehicle should be considered fraudulent.

Scam. :yesnod: (Identical wording for a sale a friend of mine looked into last year, only it was a different model.)

Ebay doesn't function as a third party escrow service. And the instructions will include you supplying the seller with your bank account information.

Please do not do it.

Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical,

Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're

Definite scam.
The grammar was good up until "For the moment..."
They copied a real ad and then added their scam pitch on the end... not very successfully, in my opinion.
The price is probably altered to garner more attention.

If it sounds too good to be true....

Would you allow someone you don't know to take an ATV for 5 days on a trial basis...neither would they in the mythical ad...stay clear.
