I am not sure if this is the correct forum for this rant or not but here goes.  I started my car last night for the first time since last fall and after it was idling smooth I got out to check things out and I noticed acorn chunks all over the floor behind the car.  :flame:  I shut it off right away and checked the oil because I have heard of mice crawling into an open chamber.  The oil was nice and clean and it the motor sounded fine.  I would think that I would have seen something in the oil if there would have been anything in a cylinder.  What do you guys think?  Stinking mice destroyed my headliner this winter too doggone it!   :brickwall:

What works for me is those "Fabric Softener Sheets", that the 'Ol Girl uses in the Dryer ?

"Bounce, Fleecy" yada yada the "smellier" the better ??

Throw a bunch of those around inside the Car Floor Matts Area when storing for the Winter, maybe a few around the Tires on the ground.
Mice/Rodents HATE that Crap and won't go anywhere near yer Ride.
Come Spring,
just open the Doors, air it out for about 10 minutes and it's fine.
Trust me, IT WORKS !

Only wimps wear Bowties !

Also a deterrent (permanent): where there are gaps or holes in the frame or body, stuff plain old steel wool into the openings. It's inevitable that there's a gap/hole somewhere, and the stuff works as a barrier.

Of course there is the cat solution too.

In my house garage I use the trusty snap traps with peanut butter. They work very well.

In my detached garage where my Charger is I use one of those Black & Decker EP1100-A Ultrasonic Pest Repellers. It actually works for me. I used to get a huge amount of mice in there and now I haven't seen any in a long time. I do get the occasional mole, but they don't bother with the car. I keep it on high when I'm not in there as it's pretty loud and annoying.

RECHRGD

I use a combination of moth balls and the ultrasonic thingy.  No more mice. :2thumbs:

Now ya see? There's another "thingy". Sometimes its just easier to call it a "thingy" like the headlight door holder upper thingy's I bought from Bull for my 69. I think its a MaMopar........wait for it.......THINGY!

Good suggestions and thingys fellas.  Will keep all this in mind.  I just hope the mice stayed clear of the engine thingy... :nana:

So those drier sheets work well? I've used moth balls for years and this year there was a coating of some kind on the spare tire :shruggy: The only thing I could see was that as the moth balls vaporized the residue  went to the rubber for some reason. It came off with hard scrubbing but I'd like to try something different, and not a Boa Constrictor either Nacho :icon_smile_big:

I have a big blacksnake up at my garage that takes care of them in summer. IN the winter, I just use traps.

Never tried the dryer sheets, because I never knew if they worked. Now I will.

If my wife saw a snake the whole east coast would know about it.

Put the moth balls in a baggie that is made for veggies...they are porous and will let the moth balls vapor. Even in a regular baggie they get scent out...and it only takes a few hours of ventilation to get the scent gone for good.

This thing is really cool. Showed up at the beginning of last year and was about 3 feet long.
This year he looks like he is over 5 feet long.
Comes in the garage sometimes while I am there. Just sits there and looks at me. Could be sizing me up for dinner - lol.
Found him curled up a couple of times on my large black tool box, and I have no idea how he is getting in and out.
He's not mean or anything, because I poked him with a stick a couple of times, and he just moved a little.
My garage is really out in the woods, and I think I am probably the only person he has ever seen.
Every time I see him he has lumps in him, so I know he is doing his job.

I am capping my exhaust with soup cans this fall to keep the mice out of my engine I know that.  As far as snakes go, well snakes make me move in very unnatural ways.  Have you ever seen a grown man tap dance while making loud screeching noises followed by an attemp to long jump backwards?  Not a very manly thing to do at all and you can pull muscles doing that....  :o

When I bought the property I raised the boys on I saw a little black snake in the barn. We talked, he grew, by the time I sold the property he was a good 6 feet and fat! Never had critters bother my house however, it used to make him mad when I let the grass grow and seed and then mow. He'd lift his head and body up and, I swear, give me a dirty look.

As for the deadly snakes...dance a gig and then some...nooo bad pigmy rattlers...bad!!!!
