No, I'm not thinking about buying it (fantasizing maybe) and his price is 20k firm so it's kind of moot but in your opinion do you think this 68 is worth that much?

A local 27,000 original mile '68 383 Charger just sold for $20K and it was very nice for an original car. It was repainted nicely years ago and garage kept all its life.

I would say that one is priced a little high for what the market is now.

I sold a very nice driver 68 QQ1 blue #s matching 383/727.  Not a trailor queen but it has won some shows and usualy brings home a trophy.  I got 20k for that and just from the pics I would say you would need to put about 10k into that one to make is as nice :Twocents:

I would say there are still some high asking prices on EBay, but how many sell?  I had mine on EBay with a reserve of 25k and it never reached the reserve.

Maybe if he washed it before taking the pictures it could be closer to $20k, but not $20k IMHO.   :Twocents:

Being that I am in the market for a Charger at the moment I would have to agree that 20k is too much. Ill watch this and see what happens though.  ;)

Too high.  The pictures may not do it justice, and they don't.   He must not be a motivated seller.

I'd say it is a little high (for an XP), but it does look to be in great shape. The grill appears straight, the engine compartment untouched, only a few whiskey bumps, and the body panels look original and straight. If the electrical all works, including the gauges, he probably will get his price (but it may be a year or two). A new front end, exhaust and rebuilt engine is worth at least 3K. Definitely a daily driver.  ;)

Edit - does he have the fender tag and buildsheet?  :scratchchin:

If he couldn't clean it for a sale what else hasn't he bothered to get done?  :scratchchin:

I wouldn't even look at it for over 10K.

I dunno. I wonder how "firm" he'd be seeing $15 - $18k cash offer if its in very good condition albeit dirty? IMO 68-70 Chargers still hold their value even during this economic downturn. They aren't going for the huge money of 3 or 4 years ago but they're becoming more rare each passing year. Within these years R/T's, C500's, 4 spd cars and sixpacks still command big bucks. I'd be hard pressed to overlook this car myself were I in the market.

I'd have to have a close look-see at the common rust areas. Seeing as how it's used as a driver I would think the potential for rust in the usual spots is pretty high and yet I don't see much evidence of it. I agree the price is too high but I don't think by much depending how well the paint cleans up. What's odd is how nice the pain inside the engine bay looks compared to the outside.

There's something very cool about seeing a Charger that gets used for its intended purpose.

Are the seats recovered or is that a factory stitch pattern?

Looks like they were recovered. That pattern is not factory.

If I were in the market, I wouldn't give him anything over $16,500 for it.

The car is worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it, or whatever the owner will part with it for. Simple as that.
Now would I pay 20k? no, but the guy who looks at it next may do.

It seems high, but it doesn't seem like it's priced in dreamland either. I'd be willing to bet if it were cleaned up, compounded, waxed, & maybe some detailing inside & out, he'd get $20K, but only if it is truly an original & not a covered up POS.

Apparently the seats have been recovered so its not all original anymore. Some were questioning the clean looking engine bay too.
