If you are going to build a GL, using a 318 car is the way to go.

Why dont you just find out exactly how much everything will cost to bring a car from the states.

Then, look at the prices of comparable cars in the US, and add everything up. If its cheaper to buy that one
then buy it. If its cheaper to ship one, then do that. Just remember to figure in the cost of you coming over
here to check it out and handle things in person.

I also wouldnt worry about the tan interior. All of the big interior items are available so the only things you will
need to worry about are the small items. The vinyl dyes today are very good, and you can hardly tell the difference.

Also remember that cash talks. If you walk up to him with 5000 euros cash, he just may take it, especially if he has
had it for sale for a while.

Too bad you are not interested in a 70. I have one in better shape than that one, for a lot less money, and it comes with a running 440,
a 383, a 331 Hemi, and two 727 trannys.

Just for your info, cash doesn't always talk. i turn down afew offers on my car. It's not for sale and I mean it's not for sale, not even cash will change my mind as the one guy found out  and he even showed me a hand full of cash at that.

But this car is for sale! There is a difference, he may just be tempted!
Make it idiot proof, and somebody will make a better idiot!

If you think Education is difficult, try being stupid!

There are SO many of these clone cars around. Wouldn't it be wise to just save and buy one in a few months or a year that needs less work and already painted like a General Lee? You may have to pay more in shipping it over, but you will save in the long run. That 318 car could takes YEARS to get done depending on how much money you have to throw at it. You can bet you wont be enjoying driving anytime in the near future.

Well that is true, the case here is different, but just because you pull out a wud of green backs, think the owner will say okay it's yours. Even though mine isn't for sale, the last few guys still tempted to try it with me to change my mind but the mind that git change fast was theres  :smilielol: and the tempted didn't work on me at all.

It also depends on how long he has had it for sale, and how much interest he has had. If he has been trying to sell it for a year, then he may be tempted. If he has only had it for sale for a week, then he may not. Timing is everything.

I would hold off and look for a cleaner car.  Even if you get a good deal on the car - the resto of the car will really set you back financially since the car needs quite a bit of work.  I think in the long run you are better off starting with a cleaner car.

I'd pass on that one and look for something cleaner. A better starting point.

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

Look at my link to my resto of my 68.  I thought it was pretty good until I took the paint (clothes) off of it.  It needed floors, front and rear frame rails, doors, hood, rear quarters..... Nothing is impossible with AMD now a days.  All the AMD metal fit like a glove.  I like the idea now that I know what the car has on it and in it.  No more surprises..... Use the crappy condition as a bargaining tool.. :2thumbs:
