I sent all the yoke stuff I had to Jackson(terribleone) last year.  all i have are the pigs with the guts. One 489 and one 741
Somebody has got to have those clips for you.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Ron, it was one of those aftermarket units....made by Nitro Gear I believe.   Hopefully Cass can do something for me....if not 3.54 Dana here I come!  ;)

Good luck with everything...   hope it works out.  I'd look for factory spiders if possible.  Not sure on 'origin' of nitro gears.

Somebody mentioned dry assembly... well yeah that does matter.  I did the trac loc rebuild awhile back with a kit from Cass and had to soak the new clutches overnight or something like that IIRC.  E-booger and I beat the snot out of it on cardboard and towels outside his shop.   It worked like new again after we got done  :icon_smile_big:

Be glad for the little things like 8 3/4 pigs that come out.    On vehicle gear repair like I had to fix the Fiddynein kinda sucks - especially with crush sleeves.

Otherwise I'm sure he can do a Dana but you'll be spending a lot more  :yesnod:   Needs shorter driveshaft also.

Thanks again man! Sadly I only used one for a limited time: Im rebuilding my differential at school and it turns out that the aftermarket pinion (motive gear) is 29 spline instead of 10 spline, so I had to get a new yoke!

That being said, Id love to help anyone out who needs one of these like Mike did for me. I have two 10 spline 7290 yokes and one 10 spline 7260. They all have grooves in them from the seal, some worse than others, but nothing a speedi sleeve won't fix.

Chris, are you talking about the clips that go on the inside of the u-joint? I've got an old 7290 joint that still has all of its c-clips if you need them.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Thanks but the 7290 is a large joint (which my orig shaft has)
this smaller 7260 shaft is smaller.....Ill get them somewhere!!
thanks all

Chris, you do know there's a u-joint out there at fits small-to-large yoke...a #7611 or somthing? I know I have one!

Thanks Frank!  I think I have a connection here on the island that has them so no worries there.

Yes I know about the conversion joint but the spare rear has the 7260 joint & the spare driveshaft also has it so Im good to go in that dept.

mauve66

been over 10 years since i saw the inside of mine but isn't there a "thrust block" or something in the center of the suregrip that keeps the spider gears or axles from moving too far and possibly breaking teeth??
like i said been a long time sooooooo maybe not

A bit of good news....the mfg warranties their parts for a year.   I have to ship the unit back to Cass & he will install a new gear set etc.  He is an authorized repair facility.
Stay tuned!

Downfall is Chris, you had to pay shipping back and probably shipping to you again for something that was a factory defect it seems.  I know when I was talking to Cass about getting a complete new third member from him, the shipping was out of this world.
