It is a tragic loss. And yet again speeding is the cause. Far too often the offenders get off scott free while their passengers don't. This is why I dread my kids getting in someone else's car.
Make it idiot proof, and somebody will make a better idiot!

If you think Education is difficult, try being stupid!

It's been hell going to school for everybody.. Speeding, if you want to call it that, he was doing 35, but the dirt roads around here are so unforgiving.. It's soo didfficult to grasp what really happened, Ed is in my homeroom at school and my machine shop class too, just on friday morning we were all talking about how awesoem his truck is, it's an '83 Chevy with a 350 out of a wrecked Caprice.. Now my friend Arlon attends night school, and he found that somebody wrote "Matt's a fag" above one of the urinals.. Stuff like this just isn't right, it's like a kick in the gut :cryin:

Matt was such a great kid, he helped out everybody and on Monday, when even my machien shop teacher was crying, he's a real hardass, it just made you realize, gosh, I can't believe this!

Ed is holding up well, I've been sitting with him at lunch and we've all been comforting him, he's a real nice kid and this really is the last thing you would ever expect to happen.

Bird67,

I am sorry for the loss of your friend. I lost a good friend of mine in a truck accident (except he was driving and there were no passengers) back in 2005 and it still hurts to think about it. I hope you take advantage of your school's counseling services, and always try to remember the good times you shared with your friend and try to focus on that as much as you can. It will help let go of some of the pain.

Sorry man.

My 19yo cousin drove off one day in 2004 and didn't come back.  Seems like it always strikes the people you least expect.

Bird67 my heart goes out to you. It is never easy to lose someone and especially when you are so young and invincible. The best way to heal is to always remember great times shared. It will always hurt it just starts to hurt less.

Everybody is trying their best to pull together.. it really is sad not seeing him everyday in the halls! Ed is still doing well, amazingly he got out of the truck with a sore shoulder and a few scratches, but he's holding up very well.. Matt's wake is tonight, I'm not sure if I am going yet because I don't know if I'll be able to hold it together.

Ed is still in shock, keep an eye on him. As for the funeral...trust your woobie...follow your heart. It is ok if you break down, NOBODY is going to judge you for caring; believe me.

Yeah, Ed, at times has had times in class where he'll just be absolutely quiet, I mean he's 16, and the thought that he has to live with this the rest of his life, he's so young, we're all young and its too difficult! There are some kids at school who are saying shit about matt, and it just isn't right; he died less than a week ago, have some respect!

Matt's parents are taking it well, they are treating this as a learning experience and they want us all to know that it was an accident and not to blame Ed.

Yeah sad story for sure.  I can't believe anyone would talk bad about some young child that just passed?  They'll get theirs in life. As for Matt's parents.  Wait until the shock wears off, and Matt's not around for holidays, things will change.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Today there was such a bad vibe in school, we have one SRO officer stationed in the school daily, today there were eight police officer in the school, because there was such a negative attitude in the school, it really is becoming a warzone!

Sorry to read about your loss, it is as bad as losing a family member. Hang in there time will heal all things, & they will get theirs, as my mother always said, what goes around comes around. As long as you remember him he will never really be gone. Take care.
