Recently bought a 4618SA for the Daytona to eventually replace the Edelbrock Performer Series 600CFM that was on the car when I got it. I never really had any issues with it. Being a brand new carb and all, it ran smooth as ice. But, in the process of getting the proper AVS, the guy who sent it to me made an understandable mistake, he sent me a 4618S version ( most notable difference is the one fuel/air mixture screw on the S versus two on the SA ). Since I have the '69 Charger 500 now, the 4618S is appropriate, so I told him I'd keep it and just buy the other 4618SA... Did I confuse ya'll?  :smilielol:

So, I just threw a kit on in it and tested it on the Daytona.......... Man !!! :o  What a difference.. Granted, it's not like my six pack I once had on it, but the 750 CFM AVS with those 4.10's make a great combination.. (at least on the regular street around my neighborhood.... )

So, I can't wait to get the proper 4618SA for the Daytona.. I'll have the 4618S ready for the C500 when I fire it up......

Oh yeah... The throttle response is great.. No hesitation.. From a stop, she'll just go up in smoke with those 4.10's....... 440, 4618S, single-point, auto and 4.10 Dana....... Getting as close to OEM as I can and the car still hauls butt....... The engineers had it right.............

There is a reason that the factory engineers get paid good $ for what they do, and create combinations that deliver good performance.
However Bubba and a Summit catalog always seem to have a better idea of what works better than what those 'overpaid idiots" came up with.
I know, I was one of those Bubbbas once!
glad to hear you're running good Troy!
I believe that Brennan (Arnie Cunningham on the forum) had the same experience as you with an OEM carb

Yes, I too was shocked at how much better my car performed with the stock carb.  When we took all the after-market stuff from high school off it, we were left with a standard bore, stock piston shortblock.  I wanted the car absolutely reliable so we decided to go completely stock with as much as we could at the time.  At first we tried an Edelbrock and it sorta kinda worked ok.  It was a good band-aid fix.  The next year we had more time to rebuild a 4737S from another Superbird.  I had picked it up many years before.  The addition of the correct stock carb on a completely stock HP engine resulted in a dramatic improvement in mileage, performance and drive-ability.

True, my car does not have the same power it did with a huge cam, headers and a Predator carb but it also runs for more than a few miles at a time too.

The Eddy carbs are a great clone but they are calibrated lean so they can get the holy blessing from the almighty CARB and EPA.  It's little surprise the OEM stuff works better.
