Fuse Keeps Blowing From The Alternator To The Voltage Regulator!

Ok there is a fuse that runs from the alternator to the voltage regulater on my 68 Charger.It has a 318.Any clue why this fuse keeps blowing out?The regulator is new....Is the alternator going out?This would be the wire that charges the battery. ??? ???

well there never was a fuse in thee from the factory
there is only one wire from the reg to the alt & it powers the field , the heavier wire that should go to the junction at th estarter relay is the one that charges the battery
