Power steering pump problem - fixed!

I had a problem with my power steering pump that blew out just before the Mopar Nats this year.  I went onto e-bay and bought a new one so I could get it fixed prior to the show.  :rotz:   I receive the purchased pump 2 days before leaving for the show and installed it  . . . guess what.  It didn't work and leaked badly.  I went to the show with no power steering and a leaking unit.  While at the show I met a guy from Steer and Gear in Columbus  http://www.steerandgear.com/  that told me he could fix me up for 85 dollars complete.  Then he would pay for the return shipping.  Let me tell you he did exactly what he said.  The unit I bought was completely trashed.  Needed everything!  The other just leaked alittle . . . .

If anyone is having issues with their power steering pump or other issues,  this place comes highly recommended by me!  Both units are now in working order and they tested each unit to make sure!   :2thumbs:   from me!    If I ever have any more issues, I now know where to go!

Thanks for the review. After dealing with the screw ups at the local parts stores I think I'm going to contact these guys and finally get my steering pump dealt with. :2thumbs:

First I ordered a pump only (no res) from Baxter and it was missing the big o-ring so I refused it. Then I ordered a complete pump w/ res which the computer showed they carry but they really don't. So I reordered the pump (no res) again and when the second one showed up it was missing all the o-rings, not just the big one. So to rectify this they ordered an o-ring kit which they expect me to pay for, even though their rebuilt pump is supposed to come with everything you need. Tomorrow I'm going to call them and tell them to forget the whole thing.

I'd recommend them (Steer & Gear that is) - I sent my power steering gearbox to them to have it rebuilt.    Not quite the same as the pump I realize, but for a part that's rather critical  I'd rather do this than take my chance on whatever 'hi-quality' rebuilt they have at the local parts store, even if it is cheaper...
