the earlier 440 had the forged steel cranks and the newer i think 73 and newer had cast cranks and 500 isnt to bad i got a complete running 440 and 727 for 300 though but i waited and looked for almost 2 years before finally buyiing

i usually buy 440's for $300 or so and when i let one go i don't take a penny less than $500, usually $600-700 depending on the year and if it's complete. IF you need  a 440, and it's local, and the block isn't cracked or already .060 over, $500 is a fair price

I bought a fully rebuilt 440 with 452 heads hot tanked and magged, new pistons, rings, lifters, valve job, cam, double chain timing gear, honed and bored .030 but with a cast crank all for $350. I may have gotten a good deal.

I had a '73 440 core, (needed rebuilt, but complete) that I listed on Craigslist, forbbodiesonly, moparts, here, etc for $300.....didn't have no bites. Dropped the price to $200 and got a ton of emails, and sold it.

I'll plant flowers in my "HP" 440's before I sells any of 'em for $200.00 running? Yeah, right...40 plus year old engine running for $200.00....

Anything under $800.00 running is considered a deal here in the south...

Have you been over to Moparts.com and checked out their classified section.  I have bought several parts for my 440 rebuild from there.

Good Luck
