media blasting??????

OK I've never had this done to a hole car but am looking into it. Can you tell me what the preferred media is for just removing old paint, filler and light surface rust? and what air pressure to use with that media? I've been hearing alot about soda blasting lately and have a loocal sand blaster that would blast my car but has never used soda. Any info and help is appreciated!

I've heard good things about plastic media blasting. I've looked into soda blasting as it's more readily available around here. The main thing to watch out for is neutralizing it *before* spraying primer. Plastic requires a special setup to capture and reuse the media as it's very expensive while soda is biodegradable (although some places like California are already looking into banning its use outdoors due to some environmental effects). Both are less prone to warping the metal than sand. Neither of these should be applied with standard sandblasting equipment.

I was quoted $700 to plastic bead blast a car and we used to get a "special" rate of around $250 for mobile soda blasting (they come to you) through the club.

I used plastic media blasting on my C500 because I believe it is the safest method.
