Boy, that fence really did its job didn't it? ::) I guess it did if its job was to keep people out but not cars in.

What is amazing is how far from the racing surface the spectators were, and the car still got in there.   On the real time replay, count how many seconds elapse as the car goes through the run off - it's a long time.    I have been to a lot of road courses, and those people were a LONG ways off.   The gravel traps didn't do anything with the car flipping, and with the distance they didn't have a catch fence.

I read a quote from a well known race track designer earlier today.  It was in regard to a freak crash at Road Atlanta last year.    Basically, he said things like this make him say, "Wow, never saw that one coming."   You can bet there will be a catch fence there next time around.

anybody here own a mini. i want one so bad.! if anybody has any real input. good or bad?
Restoring a charger is like a saying I heard along time ago "I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it".... Jesus I wish I could remember who said that...

I know where there's one going cheap at the moment in Queensland Australia. Only a few flips old!  :icon_smile_big:

What wasn't in the article was that another mini went off on the same corner under the same conditions. Leads me to believe, they are not good race cars!
Make it idiot proof, and somebody will make a better idiot!

just lucky for everyone that the flip of the car went over the crowd instead of motor first right into them

Too late. I hear the owner already flipped it on craigslist.
