Anyone taking part in the Target ban?

its not that the values they promote are useless. It's that they try to force those values on everyone else and they 'holier than thou' attitude they have.

If x-mas is really that important to members of the AFA, then they shouldnt need Target to tell them that a X-mas tree is a x-mas tree.

First off...you participate in the ban if you WANT, just like participating in Christmas...free will. Secondly, they banned Target because if they didn't, then many other stores would also banned (and many have tried to) the use of the word Christmas. They are simply standing up for the values they believe in. Does anyone REALLY think that Christmas would be the celebration it is without hundreds of years of it being celebrated in America as "Christmas"? It has been called that since it was first celebrated...now all of a sudden we need to erase any connection with the original and true meaning, remove all references or ultimately rename it ?(which is what NON-Christians want) And Troy brings up a great point...what about Halloween? I don't celebrate it...in my household we call it Harvest...and forego trick-or-treating completely. If I suggested no mention of Halloween in stores or calling it Harvest in advertisements I'd have members here telling me to get over it...so why are MY values $h!t and yet I have to sit idly by and listen to the BS that gets thrown around here on a regular basis against Christianity or conservatism? The other side preaches tolerance, but has NONE for my values...hmmmm...

BTW: Isn't it self righteous ANYTIME you try to promote your own beliefs over those of another? Wouldn't that mean that EVERYONE is somewhat sellf righteous? I mean, having NO moral values and telling others who do that they are self righteous is actually a self righteous statement..isn't it?

Also, in case no one actually "gets" it..the REAL reason for banning The Salvation Army is because they are a Christian organization...period.

It is just the fact that this is another attempt by the ACLU types in our country to erase any trace of Christianity and God from our society.  First no Bible references in schools, then no prayer, then no praying at football games, then no ten commandments on the Courthouse wall, then lets erase, "In God We Trust." from our currency.  Lets take down all Nativity Scenes.  Lets cahnage the name of Christmas, Let our schools change from Christmas Vacation to "Winter Holiday".  There has been a steady attack on anything relating to Christianity in this country.  That is a fact.  I for one am sick and tired of it and will not take anymore.  We are not trying to be self righteous.  Quit trampling our rights and we will quit fighting back.  And by the way, the AFA doesn't push anything down anyones throat.  If you do not like what they stand for go find a party and get drunk and forget about it.  The fact is this country was founded as One Nation Under God.

that was kinda my point .......   when the country was founded it was different.  There was no significant population of anyone but Christians.  Times have changed...... Yes, I support AFA both in mind AND in money donations.   If you dont like it, so what.   Through thier attention to detail several companies including Proctor-Gamble have modified thier political position through the boycotts.  The FCC even consulted with the AFA in 2005 regarding the Porn industry push to legalized blind calling and text messaging to unlisted cell phone numbers to solicit business.  More power to them.

BTW, look at the amount of money that Target gives to various charities every year.

I don't like Christian groups preaching morality to non-Christians, but we all have an opportunity to participate in the political process and I don't think the two are one in the same. I feel the same way about PETA or the ACLU or any other liberal organization. I don't really like them preaching their morality to me but I'll fight for their right to participate in the political process.

  Yep!!!  I remember that story from Cathecism.  I actually grew up Catholic AND "Born Again" (non-denominational).  It was interesting listening to the different points of view on Christianity.

The bottom line is not matter what you do SOMEBODY is going to be pissed off. In this case I think they choose to pick a middle ground, and it backfired.

In our own minds we have what we believe to be the "correct" path. Others will disagree, which is exactly how it should be. Because without choice and free will, our silly lives are not worth living.

The word "christmas" doesnt make or break my ideas of what and how life should be. And if it does yours, I suggest you take a long look at what it is you think you believe in.

Do I think it should be christmas? Absolutely

I also knew you didn't type that Ponch.   Your response to my wise ass question was lightening fast!        I figured right away that you simply cut and pasted after a simple Google search, just like so many others do with their "text book" answers that enable them to seem so intelligent & versed in the ways of the world        .   I know you never attempt to come across this way, but it's a shame that many others do and it's comical that we can see right through them!
