long story short i sold all my stuff to turbo the 440 after starting up the dart and relaizing a turbo car would sound nothing like american muscle   :flame:

i need some advice i sort of hashed out a setup from what i have currently:

recap:
74 30 over 440 block
850 holley 4160 carb with choke removed, brass floats swapped for nitrophyl (sp?)
torker 440 intake
motor home heads with oversized valves (still ahve to find out actual size) port matched and pocket ported
509 cam with stamped rockers (not stock) and dual springs
L2266 forged slugs (approx 8.88:1 CR with open chamber heads)
stock rods
10/10 cast crank

looking into e85 i would like to run a fuel pump that is approved for alcohol use, has anyone had experience with the holley black HLY-12-815-1   vs the aeromotive S/S pump AEI-11203

both are 3/8 inch inlets should i be looking at 1/2? i will need approx 40% more fuel going with E85 over the usualy "pump gas"

ive been looking at the 528 cam after reading some posts and its a viable option when i look into new rockers, anything else besides adj rockers need to be swapped with a solid cam? (lifters and pushrods assumed)

cudaken

Dump the 509, cut the heads to get the compression up with new pistons. I as well has gave up on blower's at this point. Blower is sold and 440 getting rebulit yeat again?

Cuda Ken, at this point I will never get blowen.
I am back

looking to go 3k rpm stall with a 3.92 or 4.10 gear

E85 is comewhere between 104-108 octane for summer blend

would i be safe with 10:1

i think a flat top piston with a cut head yeilds a better quench than a domed piston and a big gasket but just asking to make sure

with an open chamber head what is the best way to get x amount of compression with an off the shelf piston?

what the point of all that power if they cant hear ya coming,

10:1 wll work with a longer duration cam like the 509
I agree that there are better choices though

Kryp2nitE

im not disagreeing with the better choice part but if ive got the cam now i'd rather put my $ into the rest of what keeping it from running before i finalize my combo

r we in somewhat agreeance that the 528 stick is a better choice? is there a solid cam thats got more lump than a 528?

so im shooting for 10:1 then, flattop piston and milled head or shim and domed piston?

andy74

id stay away from the dome pistons, you will be better off with flat tops and thinner gaskets, milled heads, just my 2 cents
