Front spoiler for a 2nd Gen

I bought one yesterday. $37 with tax.
It looks like it matches the contours of the valance pretty well. Since my car is a 70, I will have to cut the outer edges a little to fit around the bulges for the turn signal/parking lamps.

  did you buy a Camero one ?

Would have to be for a Camaro.
The Mopar tax alone would have been $37...

ok, it does two things.
firstly it eliminates that floating feeling and keeps it more stable at high speed.
And secondly it hides the radiator support plus the stabiliser bar and in my opinion,  just makes the car look more complete.
I'm including a before pic for you so that you can see the difference.

So, have you wound it up yet to check if the ''floating feeling"" has gone away or got less, just curious on the + &-'s

I didn't buy a mounting kit with mine. I attached the spoiler, then MADE 2 struts for then ends using 3/8 fuel line. The center felt solid enough to leave as is.

sweet i got some 3/8ths line leftover. did you just use sheet metal screws through the valance? or can you mount it using the existing holes in the back of the valance?

My car had 3 factory punched oval type holes  in the valance. I bolted through those using F A T washers. The ends got self tapping screws. 5 points of contact including the center.

Well I'm convinced!  I just ordered one so I can hide that big ugly sway bar.  Pics to follow when I bolt it on, probably next weekend.

The spoiler arrived yesterday, I don't have time to install it until the weekend but I did hold it up against the valance and it fits quite nicely! 

Did you guys paint yours?  It's just molded plastic and I'd like it to look a bit better but I realize that it'll get quite the beating as well so sem trim black will probably not last long!

Mine is unpainted. I have no intentions of letting anything hit mine except bugs and road dirt.

Mine is unpainted, flat black, and looks new after several thousand miles (lots at high speed). Just bugs, like Red's.

i just put one on today. i got one with the mounting kit. the long brace lined up perfectly with a existing hole under the car. all i had to do was tweak angle on the brace a little.  the side braces are about 1 inch short of where im going to mount them. so either ill use 1" spacers or cut the braces and weld in a 1" extension.  i also used 1/4" bolts to secure it to the valance.  it looks really good but i think i definatly could have got away with the longer 68 camaro one.

I don't jump nor throw the car into corners, but you may find me roaring over a dirtroad in rural Michigan from time to time.  Besides that, all our cars get hit with crap from time to time.  Paint doesn't stick to the bottom of the bumers very long.  Michigan roads are notoriously bad, it's not a myth.

The problem I have in its current state that it is visibly molded plastic as you can see the greyish swirls in it.  One being pretty noticable.  I would love to put a coat or two of flat/satin black.  I don't mind repainting it after every season, but don't wanna do it every week!  Any super strong plastic paints out there?  Krylon worth a shot?

As I see it, you have 2 choices..........
1 leave it as is and it will be trouble free
2 paint it and do it over and over and over again and again and again.

I've left mine unpainted.  It sits low enough not to be obvious.

Yes. It's stealth! It's looks factory for '68. That's why you don't remember it.

Sidenote: I ordered the spoiler for a '69 Pontiac Firebird.    I couldn't live with a you-know-what part, and wouldn't you know, Pontiac was able to solve the problem. I can certainly live with Pontiac's "We Build Excitement."

Best mod ever!

So why is it that a Chevy part fits better than the average Mopar repro part?   Beats me but that was a fun little install for one hell of a visual upgrade.  It looks tons better hiding the sway bar and the added flat black fits in nicely with the theme!   

I bought mine from Ground Up and it came with three different braces and hd bolts and clips/nuts.

I drilled a few holes in the top lip of the spoiler so it lined up with some of the cutouts in the valance.  I used thick and wide washers so I can really clamp it down and here's the best part:  The longest brace in the pack (see pic) has one flattened straight end and one at 45 degrees.  I made the latter flat as well and it lined up perfectly to the K-member bolt and the bottom hole in the middle of the spoiler.  There was zero resistance, this thing is made for 2nd gen Chargers!

I got tired of lying on the ground and ice cream was calling my name so I have not braced the outer corners of the spoiler because it ends right under the big cutout behind the parking light.  Don't have a washer that big...
