ok, so how rare is the sun roof option? and hypothetically, if i knew of a very, very rusty 69 R/T S/E  440 auto that had this option. and power windows needing everything. what would it be worth..

:shruggy: A well restored one rolling across the stage at Barret, would probably fetch a good penny. But a rusted heap needing full resto is  a different cat.. A couple years ago a company up in New York restored the "cassette" on a Sunroof car at the tune of over $12,000.00. So whoever gets there hands on one needs to think of the cost on this one item.. I was priced replacement cables for mine at $1,000,AND was told no one makes them now :brickwall: and some of the pieces were made in Germany and I have not seen before.. Unusual nuts and clips etc.. so restoring to "factory" might be quite the challenge.. :Twocents:

I spoke to member Red Kilby who said he can hook me up with cables for probalby half that price...however that was a few years ago so not sure now what they would go for.  He is a real nice guy and would hook you up as well if you still need them...just an FYI

MOPAR OR NO CAR

I talked with a guy a few years ago who had a sunroof charger with nothing but the hole in the top. He said all sunroofs that were put in factory were all the same no matter what car line and he had bought a Cadillac  just for the sunroof in it to replace the one in the Charger. I haven't seen him since so I don't know if it ever got done. :shruggy:

I could see that you might be able to use the cassette in others.. that may be somewhat standard,  Remember ASC who installed and Goulde who actually manufactured them  were trying to get them in as many vehicles as possible, Either factory or aftermarket..  what is different is the size, witdth and length of opening..(And a few differing cassetes).. because  BOTH these dimensions effect the cable length, so obviously  a shorter cable would not allow it to open enough etc.. Sure if you tried long and hard enough you may be able to piece one together with 40 year old stuff. :shruggy:
There is a local guy here that has a, I believe , Is a 72 satelite he has owned since new that has a sunroof.. The opening is smaller than mine, from front to rear, not sure on width. Looking at it and I see some items that would interchange with mine..

Skyview I am lucky, My cables are fine, Considering How many times it was open and closed in high school, The girls trying to close it with the others standing up :coolgleamA: or trying to close it while another was sittin on top :brickwall:  Man! those were the days, we would sit up there until the movie started, watch the parade..or look out over the lake .No Cares No worries...just wandering what color panties she was wearing  :D

I hope thats not a factory sunroof car!   :o

I'd make one of those motorcycle cars out of it.   :2thumbs:

I am betting it is a factory sunroof car...wonder if the VIN is available somewhere in the trunk area  :shruggy:

I'd make a couch or a bar counter out of it

Why not make a bed out of it? it would be big enough  and it would also fit the style of the interior area also.

If you make a couch, heres an idea, if you have a big enough room, make both! one side be a couch and the trunk area be the bar area  :2thumbs:

That is a nice combo.  :drool5:

Gray wasn't even an option before '70 was it? I was thinking of a custom dark gray for my '68 instead of black.
