been a while since ive been on here for anything really but i could use some help...

my friend was given an '88 Sedan De Ville with a FWD 4.5 v8 and she drove it home (i followed her in her PT Cruiser which i must say sucked!) and when we got to her house the damn temp guage was pegged! open the hood and the overflow tank was full of a green/brown sludge and i burned my hand on the radiator cap (no i didnt try to take it off, i just touched it). we're both really hoping this is going to be an easy fix but im hoping one of you can tell me for sure...

Head gasket is easy to check, Wait till it's cooled down... Open the radiator cap and start it. If you get bubbles or antifreeze trying to "boil over " than it is for sure a head or a head gasket.
