You might be onto something with the kidney beans...     if you throw in the rest of the produce section to throw at Chris for this ongoing melodrama.  :slap:

295/50/15 rear... your going to need more than a 8" rim... 10" would be best.... or was the 8" just for the front?

Just 6T9 CHGR

8" on the back & they fit fine  (8" is the mfg minimum size required)  yes the contact patch wont be a wide as on a 10" rim but will suit me fine
Chris' '69 Charger R/T

Roger that... Different manufactures, different widths, different recommendations, I stand corrected.

How wide are they mounted on the 8" rim... the overall sectional width I mean. Tire widths vary a lot from one manufacture to the next, and I have been curious about the new MT's. I know the width of my BFG's on a 10" rim, and a few others...

Just 6T9 CHGR

Not really sure...here are the specs from their site

http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/street.php?item=SportsmanST

I believe Cooper is the mfg for their tires as well...

When I measured mine on the car, I held a 24" Carpenters Square on one side of the tire at the height of the axle, and put a straight edge across the other side, then I just read the measurement off the inside scale on the square.

OK, I'm old and senile... it was over 5 years ago... When I was shopping for tires and rims I wanted to be sure that I could squeeze a 295 into my existing wheel opening, so I was looking at several sources of information. As I recall "NOW" the BFG site did recommend a 8-10" rim for the 295/50/15, and stated that it had a 12.2 sectional width on a 9.5" rim. I was recalling the 9-11" recommendation from this other site... the one I was using to visualize the backspacing and other clearances for my proposed setup. Look at the spec's at the bottom of the image for rim size.. My apologies... but thanks for jogging the old memory anyway, I'll try to remember this now for future reference.
Of course, I still freaked out when I pulled one of my new BFG 295's out of the box and saw how wide it actually was  :o   How was I ever going to shoe that thing into the wheel well

Congratulations - those look really cool!  :2thumbs:

But why, why couldn't they offer a 10" version?  (Their new ss seems fairly limited also.)   :brickwall:  Otherwise I'd be interested too.

I thought the same....I was almost tempted to get the 17x8 version but I couldnt find a complimenting tire size like the big & littles I got with the 15x8's
