From Jalopnik:

Wife Hacks Husband's Car Forum Account, Divorces Him With It

An Acura forum member posted an idiotic screed about his wife's jealousy of his car, an Acura TL. His wife found it, hacked his account and used it to divorce him.

Men complaining about their wives on car forums is about as common as old men complaining about kids trampling their yards. That's why this particular example, an Acura TL owner on the car forum Acurazine, is particularly egregious and stupid. In fact, it was so bad, other car-loving members of the forum were forced to remind their brother-in-automotive-arms that his beloved car is just a car, and that his family is more important. Here's the ridiculousness:

My wife and my side chick aka my tl

I Love my GIRL and i take care of all of my responsibilities but everytime i save the money to buy something for the car is a problem. Even when i ask her and tell her what i am going to do in advance and at first she is ok with it then out of no where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY YOU GOT THAT SHIT IT DOESNT LOOK GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHY DOES THE CAR GET ALL THAT ATTENTION AND I DONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BITCH COUSE ALL THAT CARS DOES IS GIVE ME PLEASURE AND ALL YOU DO IS FUCKING COMPLAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

I SWEAR SOMETIMES I WISH I WAS SINGLE BUT IT IS NOT ALWAYS BAD AT TIMES SHE CAN BE THE RIDE OR DIE CHICK THAT I NEED AN SHE GAVE ME MY GREATEST LOVE IN LIFE WHICH IS MY BABY GIRL "Elena"

Do any of you guys have this same problem or is it just me being too into my car?

Ignoring the verbiage for a moment, the use of ALL CAPS alone would be justification in our minds for a backlash from our significant other. But it's his "Am I right, fellas?" attitude that makes his wife's complete smackdown, using his own account, so epic. He really had it coming:

My wife sometimes reads what I post, her reaction is either an eye roll, or she just shakes her head & ignores me.

I have a sig on another site somewhere that says, "Have had my favorite car longer than my wife, a 1969 Plymouth convertible. I did tell my wife if I ever had to choose between the convertible & her, I'd give her a call every now & then."

If his wife is petty enough to actually hack into a private account on a car forum, then maybe her (now ex) husband's complaints about her had some merit. I mean, who in the hell would want a divorce over stuff said on an online car forum?

Also, the more I read of the story, the more the B.S. flag comes out on this one. It's an entertaining read, but I have serious doubts that this is anything but a hoax.

I see too many guys on car message boards where the wife hates the car and anytime her hubby invests any amount in she goes ape.

I often wonder why guys like this get married to these women???  If there getting this much grief from the wife now obvisously they got grief when the relationship got serious enough to ponder marriage.  Obvisously they knew ahead of time she doesn't share his interest in cars, which makes me wonder why did you marry someone like that?  I know not every couple has the same interests, but why would you marry someone who is so against your hobby?  In a way your interests are a part of who you are.

Now I understand if there is money problems, and in some cases there are other more important priorities that come first.  But if you have extra money and can afford to spend a little on your car and the wife still raises hell about it that says something.  To me it says she doesn't care about your intersts which is disrepectful imo.  If my future wife spent her extra cash and invested in her hobby I wouldn't get mad at all.  I'm not married but someday when I do I'm going to marry a girl who at least understands why I enjoy and love cars (she doesn't have to be a gear head).

I agree 100%

This reminds me of some friends of my family. Keep in mind that these people are in their 60s, but the story is the same. The husband's grandfather bought a 1929 Ford BRAND NEW. It was then passed down to his father, who had it completely restored about 25 years ago, then passed it on to his son (the husband in the story) after his death. The guy was REALLY excited that he finally had the car he had admired since he was a kid. To say this car had loads of sentimental value was a massive understatement, as he was close to both his father and grandfather. He was looking forward to taking it to car shows, cruises, etc. Well, that is, until his wife made it clear that she didn't want "that old thing around" and that she was NOT GOING to any events with him that involved that car. He got so tired of her complaining that he sold the car. For the first time in 80 years, that car finally left the family. He was heartbroken, but his wife is one of those controlling women who 'wear the pants"in the relationship.

I am thankful to have a loving wife who loves both my cars and guitars. I respect her hobbies as well. Like Sabre said, your hobbies and interests are a part of who you are. If your significant other can't accept them, then maybe it's time to move on.

Well, I can say that my wife used to love to go to car shows as she loves old mustangs and camaros.  We got married and still went to shows together but not as much.  Now that we have a daughter and a house, she rarely goes to shows anymore and if I want to spend any money on the car, it usualy has to come out of money that I find somewhere.  So, yes, there are those who stay true to cars and shows and there are those who change their course.  Free will is a hard thing to figure out.

Sometimes life gets in the way. However if you love someone you have to take the entire package. I love you but...no, no, no...unless the but is followed by something exceptional like I love you but you have too many girlfriends and now i am leaving then yeah...there can be a but.

When I met my wife, I had a '69 GTX convertible and a '71 GTX- she knew what she was in for ahead of time, and if she had expressed any negativity about my car passion, she wouldn't have become the Mrs.... that's the kind of thing you need to know about each other ahead of time; only comes with knowing each other well before taking the plunge. You don't have to share all the same interests, but you better be tolerant of the differences between you, or it isn't going to work. 26 years later, I still have two hobby cars AND the Mrs.- either we did something right, or it was just dumb luck.

Well, unlike this guy who got himself into a world of hurt, you probably have a job, right? When you're stealing food out of your kid's mouth to pay for ground effects on a ricer (just an example) the little woman has every right to get pissed. This guy had it coming IMO. He's just a loud mouth show off who's all smoke and no fire.

I'll say this about my Nubian Princess - she may not be completely enthused by "the car thing", but she's supportive of me having a hobby and is happy if I'm happy about it. She doesn't really give me crap about spending money on the cars...though maybe occasionally she'll remind me that there are other things that need to be taken care of first. It's all in how I explain things. For example, I found out over the weekend that the shocks on my '08 are more or less wasted. Since I'm looking at anywhere between $50-100 a pop for each shock, I convinced her that the Eibach Lowering Coil and Performance Damper(shocks) package some guy I know from the local LX scene is selling for $500 (installation included) is a great deal  :D

Most times there are 2 sides to the story.  In a healthy unshelfish relationship you support each other. You support your wife and she supports you.  As for the 29 ford, the wife should of gone not the car.
My wife supported all the tons of money I put into my dream car as we struggled with bills, and I support her dream to be a nurse and said goodbye to the person that used to cook ,clean, take care of the kids etc...... as she studies 24/7.
I ask her all the time, you studying to be a nurse or Doctor?  I couldn't do what she has to do.  I have a whole new respect for Nurses. :notworthy:

Exactly right.  Spend your 20's enjoying life and live by the golden rule, No Glove, No Love.  :yesnod: (or in Ponch's case, aim for the face)  Then when you are in you're late 20's its usually a good time to think about the next phase of life, granted you have found a woman (or man, hey i dont know what your into) who will put up with you.  Then its time for kids if you want them.  I dont know too many friends that are single anymore and the ones that are dont seem to have as much fun as they used to.  I guess when everybody is single and were all in one big group then its fun to party, but when your the old guy at the bar by yourself its not as much fun. :Twocents:

Cody, There is AMPLE time for you to make that wonderful, lifelong commitment to someone that truly shares your interests and has your back. As for now...let the chicky momma walk. She don't want to know...forget her. This is where when one of my boys broke up with someone we would play the song..."she fkn hates me" until we were hoarse...it's great! They did it for me too...Every single person on this forum in a happy relationship has a mate that is either interested in what the person does and shares that way, or accept the time and commitment they have to that venture. Every time I would begin dating someone at the start of a semester...they would be whining by mid-terms...and gone by finals. I married for the first time last year, at age 37. I had been engaged in the past and had even done the "shacking up" thing a few times, but I just couldn't find the right girl. In early 2007, I found the right girl and we have been happy ever since. I have been to hell and back as far as past relationships go, so I was due for a break from the madness.

If I can offer you just one piece of advice, it would be to NEVER let anyone pressure you into doing anything you're not ready for.
